Chapter 5

~*Janvi POV*~

I woke suddenly to bitter laughter. The noise making me cringe in the white sheets covering me. Why does that laugh sound so familiar? It's as though I've heard it before, just not able to place it. The angry piece of the laughter didn't seem to strike me as familiar though. Just the laugh. The laugh?

It seemed far away, but not so at the same time. How odd.

Glancing around, the stench of sterilized metal and disinfectant hit me like a brick wall. There were several small brown chairs placed near the bed that I lay in, as well as a medium sized white sofa that had been pushed up against the wall on my right side right beside the thick wooden door hanging cracked open just a tad.

"I thought you said you wanted to figure things out!" A male's voice yelled, swiftly filling the room with the annoyance that his sound was filled with.

"I wanted to! But it all just seems like a waste now! I thought we could straighten things out and just carry on like usual, but no, you had to mention that night didn't you?!" The same voice that carried the laugh cried out.

Again, why does his voice sound so familiar. It's as though I was in one of those nightmares where you are running, trying to reach your goal or dream but your legs just won't move. The distance becoming farther and farther until you just can't see it anymore; crushed from your thoughts.

"Lads, please no fighting in here. If you want to do that, you'll need to take it outside. now, excuse me." A polite women singed, a tiny head popping through the crack in the door.

"Oh! Your awake!" She exclaimed abruptly, her gray eyes brightened and black hair falling into her eyes as she gaped in surprise.

I nodded slowly, half confused. Why wouldn't I be awake? I mean, yes, I know I'm in a hospital and all, but was I in a coma or something?

A slight pain shot up my spine as I twisted to see what was beeping so loudly. A tall monitor was standing next to my bed, the beeping of it annoying me endlessly. Countless numbers of wires fell from it, most of them going into my wrists, or the walls.

Gradually the door's crack grew larger and larger, the light from the hallway outside filling the dark room as the window shades were pulled tight.

Peering in, two boys with looks of amazement crossed both their faces as they held their eyebrows up in curiosity and excitement.

"Jan! Your up!" The boy with blue eyes squealed as though he was a six year old girl winning a stuffed pony at the fair.

They both ran to the side of the bed, barely missing the small women still gawking at me.

"I'm so so so so sorry!" The other boy pleaded. Looks of guilt filling his brown eyes, replacing the happiness.

Okay, why is this extremely handsome boy apologizing? I don't get it. Just like everything I have woken to.

"Please say something, love?" The blue eyed boy begged, eyes raising suspiciously. He looked oddly familiar, just as his voice did.

Opening my mouth I tried to speak, but quickly shut it.

Why were these boys fighting before? I'm pretty positive they were the one's yelling since as soon as the rubberneck nurse gasped that I was "awake" it became quite quiet in the hallway.

"Do you know my name, babe?" He asked. Fear covering every pore on his body and masking what really hid behind.

What was his name? Hm. Again, I knew it, but at the same time... I didn't. The same nightmare-ish feeling filling my mind. I knew for sure it started with a -L. Right? Or was it an -A? Oh shit!

"Jan?"

Snapping my head up and towards the door, three brilliant looking boys walked into the room. Each surprised and happy to see me.

Okay, this was really starting to freak me out.

I knew all of these boys. I know I did! Yet, it seems as though I once knew them in an entirely different world.

~*Louis POV*~

Her lips kept forming circles and words, but for some reason nothing came out. As if Jan was sorting out how each letter and sound fit into her mouth. Contemplating whether or not they were right or wrong. A blank expression placed onto her face.

She didn't remember me. Even if she did, she didn't remember my name. Either that, or she just couldn't speak, which was just ridiculous. Of course she can speak, Lou! I hope...

I could feel a tear escape my eye at the same moment Harry's voice filled the air and brought everyone's focus to the door.

"Are you alright?!" Niall yelled loudly, making the nurse shoot him an unapproved stare.

"Not so loud, Mr." She spoke sharply and took a step towards Janvi's bed.

"Miss Courting, can you please tell me if anything hurts?" The nurse asked soothingly. Damn, her voice can sure change quickly.

Opening her mouth, Janvi tried to speak. Words forming on her lips only to be erased as they left them. Nothing coming out.

Realizing this, she closed her mouth abruptly and looked down, her eyes glazed with tears.

"Miss Courting? Are you alright?" The nurse raised a frightened eyebrow, her mouth forming an upside down moon.

Pointing to her throat in a scared manner, her lips formed words that could be read perfectly as tears dripped off of her cheeks and onto her lap.

"Why can't I speak?"
