Brenda Palmer POV
I sat on this Saturday morning getting my hair twisted by a friend of mine from work. We had both taken the day off and I asked her if I could lean on her shoulder for a while.
"But what I don't get is how all of a sudden he thinks it's okay to just come back and act like he wasn't just sucking a ni*ga d*ck." Kassidy had said. Kassidy had been in some bad predicaments all her life, maybe having to do with the voodoo her grandma has been doing; she was from New Orleans.
"I don't get it either but I returned everything the next day, like am I overreacting? I love Omar, I really do, but he decides he just wants to go and-"
"Mommy can I get some ice cream this morning?" her youngest daughter Kassandra interrupted. She was 5 as far as I know and the cutest lil' chocolate toddler I'd seen.
"Hold on Bren; do you not see me talking, Kassandra? Go ask your daddy."
"He told me to ask you." she smiled.
"Little girl I promise if you don't go in there and sit down." Kassidy said. I sat smiling as the little girl ran out, then thought of my own future and if I were to have children.
"I'm sorry girl, what were you saying though?" Kass asked.
"I'm just blabbering on. I'm so torn sometimes, you know? I don't want to talk about it but then again, I'm just so furious."
"Maybe you need some good di*k in your life."
I cackled and looked at this 30 year old woman. Though she was older than me, she was like a bestfriend.
"Stop laughing, you know it's true. Just saddle on up when you see that guy from the other day."
"I'm not gonna go di*k ride him, no matter how much I want to. Actually, you're right. I'm gonna get some di*k this weekend."
"I'm not playing. What happened with Calvin anyway?" she said.
"Clark? He got some baby momma drama and I'm just not feeling it. She's so bipolar, I almost feel sorry for their son."
"Mhm. Go be a hoe, it pays off later." she mumbled.
"Like in highschool I thought he was the one, then now I thought maybe we could try shit again but he just couldn't let go of that leech." I continued.
Kassidy's husband walked in and said hello to me before kissing his wife.
"You told that little girl she can have ice cream?" she asked him.
"What? No, I told her to ask you cause I got to get ready for work Kassidy." he said.
"Alright Wendell, get her some."
"Wendell? I thought your name was Anthony." I laughed. He rolled his eyes.
"It's Wendell but this woman can't go by my street name."
"The only name I know is Wendell." Kass said.
"Or daddy." he mumbled. She hit him and he ran out like a kid.
"Ignore that fool." she laughed. After she finished my hair, we got some lunch at this southern style restaurant and stopped at the mall after. I drove back home and saw a package at the front of my door. I was planning to move to this apartment I found nearby work by next weekend.
I unlocked my house door and took the package to the living room, opening it up with my keys. It was my veil that I ordered for our wedding. I grabbed wine from the cabinet and poured some in a glass, drinking away my unhappiness.
