I thought nothing of the shriek.
The lights suddenly shut down completely, an unhealthy sound of electricity stopping its course through the building sounded through the room.
The panic had overcome my senses.
"Power cut." I mumbled before wiping my hands on my pants and turning around to see only the moonlight shining throughout the room.
"This doesn't make things any better."
I located the bed with my senses, my feet kicking its wooden bottom before forcing myself onto the bed.
I found myself lighting a small oil lamp that sat on the bedside table which successfully emitted a dim glow around the room.
I turned slowly to see something looking back at me.
A pair of large, bright blue eyes that sparkled under the dim lighting, ones that belonged to a cat.
They stared intently at me before jumping out suddenly, causing me to let out a scream.
A hand clasped over my mouth.
"Shut up!"
I mumbled, my eyes closed as the intruder still had my face in his grasp.
"Okay..."
He let go of my face, allowing me to breathe before he backed away and smiled at my helpless figure.
"Well, aren't you a pretty one." He murmured before inching himself closer to me.
I backed away, hitting the headboard as he crouched and allowed the tip of his nose to touch mine.
He stood back up.
"Hm, interesting."
He got off the bed and say down on the chair the cat was previously on before he flung himself at me.
He crossed his long legs, his broad shoulders dressed in a sharp, velvet blazer that shaped his edges well.
He admired his nails before turning his sharp blue gaze to me.
"Oh, how rude of me to not introduce myself. I'm Phil. I suppose you are... Hm, Mister Howell?"
I gulped and questioned how in the world he had my name on the tip of his tongue as his he knew of my whole existence.
"Yes, well, I'm Dan. But explain to me where the cat from earlier is?"
He looked at me before laughing quietly and wiping his finger across his waterline.
"Oh, silly boy. I'm the feline, I'm just in human form as of the moment, don't you see the resemblance?"
He proceeded to stare at my with his big, blue eyes and suddenly the image of the cat's eyes shot out.
