CONSISTORY GIRL

Chapter 8

Me and Britt eat dinner with Toby when we get back home.
"I can't believe this happened," I say, barely being able to eat.
"We have to go back," Britt says,"For the funeral."
"We have to take Toby," I say.
"Yay!," Toby exclaims,"I get to go to a funeral today! I love death!"
"I need to stop listening to depressing songs," I chuckle.
"Uh, yeah,"Britt glares.

At the funeral, me, Britt and Toby enter and Natalie and Matthew run straight up to us.
"We're glad you could make it," Natalie says.
"Is this Toby?," Matthew asks.
"Yes," I look at Toby,"Say hi!"
"Hi!," Toby shouts,"I GET TO SEE A DEAD PERSON!"
Me and Britt pull Toby away and shush him, Britt reprimands him.
Natalie and Matthew laugh.
Rose comes.
"I can watch him for a little bit," she says, taking Toby's hand and leaving.
Austin comes.
"Hey, guys!," he says.
"Hey!," Britt says,"Where's Liam?"
"Paying his respects," Austin frowns.
We see Liam crying over Lily's casket.
The doors open and an unexpected guest enters.
"Please, no," Britt says.
"Why is he here?," I say.
Chuck enters and sees us,"Hey, guys. It's been awhile."
"And we're glad," Matthew remarks.
"Look, Chuck," Natalie snickers,"We're not teenagers anymore. We don't have time for you. You can act like your teenage self or leave!"
Chuck grins,"I'm not on your bad side. I just came to pay my respects."
"Did you kill her?," I ask.
"What?"
"Did you kill Lily? Because it's a coincidence that she dies on the night they let you out."
"It is, isn't it? Well, I didn't. And I have proof. There is a security camera in every loft. The police looked through it and saw someone leaving the loft with Lily. It wasn't me."
"We have to look at the footage," Natalie says.
"I'll help," Chuck says.
We all state at him blankly.
"Come on," Chuck says,"We're in this together now, aren't we?"
"I guess so," Austin agrees.
"Then, let's solve this thing once and for all," Chuck says.

Rose decides to babysit Toby while me, Britt, Liam, Natalie, Matthew and Chuck go to the room where they hold the loft security footage.
Chuck quickly hacks into it.
"We're in," he says.
We zoom back to the night Lily was killed. A whole hour is missing. But it comes back on and sees Lily leaving and somebody following.
It's Rose.
