Sam POV

I threw the rope back over the fence. I needed to get home before I was caught. The rope finally landed where it should be. The royals part of town.

My  father was the general. That's why I lived here. I lived here my entire life. I was a royal by blood and birth. But I didn't like the fact that for the last seven hundred years, that's how everyone lived. The entire world lived this way.

But I had to stop thinking about it because that's when I heard footsteps. I froze. Halfway across the fence.

This was breaking the rules. What I was doing. Going from one province to another. But again, I didn't care. But I did care that if I were caught, I would have another tracking device implanted. But if they found my secret, I would be killed.

I looked down. There stood somebody new. Not the enforcement and protection officers, the epo, but a boy. About the same age as the prince. He had ginger hair and blue eyes.

But I was the generals' daughter. I was trained to notice things. It's what my dad said to me when I was young. "Notice things." And I did. I noticed that the glasses he was wearing weren't real, but for style and I  noticed that his eyes were actually fake. The eyes were colored contacts.

"Shhhh. Don't tell the epo boys. You never saw me,"  I hissed.

The Boy smiled, amusement in his eyes. "Ok, but why are you trying to get over here? It's against the rules to cross provinces and to stay out after curfew. Besides, you know the 'epo' guys are going to find out anyway. They always do."

"Not if anyone tells them. They don't always find out. I'm really good at what I do. Believe me," I gave him a suspicious look," why are questioning me? Why don't you be a true gentleman and help me get over this damn fence?"

He smiled again. He paused before going over to the fence and helping me over. After I was over, I took the rope and hid it in the bushes. His smile now faltered. "What are you doing? That's wrong," he said.

I looked over my shoulder at him. I could see he truly wanted to know. "Hiding the rope. What does it look like? Now leave me alone, I'm probably going to be caught if you don't leave now."

He looked at the hidden rope and looked at me again. "But where are you going? It's not right for a lady to be out here this late," he smiled again," besides I don't even know your name. I'm Danni." He held out his hand.

I was hesitant. But I took it anyway and shook it. "Name's Sam. What are you doing out here? I'm pretty sure this isn't your kinda game."

"You're right. This isn't my kinda game. Just felt... trapped. I guess. I needed to move around. It's a habit that gets on my father's nerves. Always moving. Why are you out here?" Danni asked.

I took a breath. I didn't know this Danni, but he had a familiar air to him. I knew if I would tell him the truth, he could betray me and call the epo boys. So... I lied," I'm out here because I have a friend on the other side. He obviously works for my father."

"Oh. What's your father, kernel? Captain? General?" He gave me a knowing  look, like he knew something I didn't.

Which I hated. The fact that somebody knew more than I did. I always challenged the people around me to basically simple skills to the best way to kill a man with their bare hands. I challenged the kings' cabinet on public policy and other important tactics.

"That's classified information," I said matter-of-factly. I narrowed my eyes. "You look, so much like the prince."

His smile faded quickly. He looked like his biggest secret has been revealed and he was trying to find a way to deny it. His eyes darted over my  shoulder, focusing on something.

That's what hit me. The footsteps. They were pounding towards us. "Running,"  my thoughts told me. I tried to run, but then a stinging came to my legs. I hissed loudly and stopped suddenly. The sudden stop made me fall to the ground. I gave up and rolled over to look at the asses who caused the stinging.

Danni was shocked to see me on the ground with shocking clackers around my ankles. He was already being cuffed by an epo agent. I didn't recognize him. But the one who was walking towards me, I did recognize. I was all too familiar with him.

"Hey, Willi," I said to my older cousin.
