I was off the bus and ran home, hoping my mother was home yet. I cursed as I saw her car in the drive.

I fumbled for the house keys in my bag, nearly dropping my books. I shoved the key into the lock and pushed the door open, running inside.

My mum was sitting on the couch. The TV was off, nothing was on. She had waited for me.

I shut the door behind me.

"Uh, hi mum," I said.

"Autumn Kylie Holmes," she said sternly. She stood up.

"You're late, where have you been,"

She'd kill me if she finds out I'd been at Anne's.

"I was at school. The class wasn't...cooperating and we had to leave late. Plus we have lots of work to do," I motioned with my books.

She looked suspicious.

"Fine then, off with you,"

I ran up the stairs and into my room. I locked my door and put my bag and books on my bed. I opened my closet doors and pulled out my suitcase.

I unzipped it and walked back into my closet. Looking around, what I should bring. I grabbed some more clothes for going out. I put those into my suitcase and walked to my drawers.

I pulled out some t-shirts and some comfortable pants and pajama pants and put those in my suitcase.

I went into my bathroom and grabbed all my hygiene things I needed from there. I put those in a separate little bag so they wouldn't ruin my clothes.

I set those on the side pocket of the suitcase.

It was really all I needed for my trip.

"Autumn!" I heard my mum say. She sounded quite angry.

"Coming," I replied.

I pushed my suitcase back in the closet and went downstairs.

"Where were you when you were supposed to be home?" She asked sternly.

"I was at school, like I said-"

"No, no classes were held late," she said.

My face heated up.

"Where. Were. You,"

"I-I was out,"

"Out where," she raised her eyebrows.

"Mum I was at the park, working on some of my work. I thought it'd be nice since its a perfect day out," I made up.

"You should've been home, you deserve a punishment now you realize?" She smiled.

I felt tears sting my eyes.

"No, please mum," I begged. "I'll do anything,"

My mum gave a smile and walked off to her room.

I moped to my room preparing for what would happen when my father comes home.

I grabbed my phone and texted Harry.

"Hello? You there?" I sent.

I got a quick reply.

"I'm here :)"

"I'm getting a beating tonight,"

"Autumn :( why? Why can't your parents just give you a grounding?"

"I wasn't home when I was supposed to be, it'll be alright,"

"No, it won't. You should come to the airport tonight, before your dad gets home," he said.

"No, Harry I'll be alright. I'll live,"

"You sure you'll be alright?"

"Yeah I'll be fine," I said.

It was eleven o'clock. My dad just pulled into the drive. I was shaking, I had no one to talk to. The boys were at their concert.

I heard my mum's voice. Probably telling him what happened.

I heard my dad climb up the stairs.

"Autumn, come here," I turned my light off and pretended I was asleep. I held my breath, not ready for what would happen next.

He unlocked the door with his key.

"Autumn wake up,"

I stayed still. I closed my eyes.

I heard him uncurl the belt he was holding.

I braced myself for the impact.

"I said wake up!" He hit me with the belt and I screamed in pain. I sat up.

"Dad, please," I begged.

"Stand up," I stood up and turned around, my back facing him.

"Good,"

I felt the whipping pain against my back, I let out a scream of pain.

"Oh shut up you pathetic girl,"

He gave me another whip.

I spun around.

"I'm sick and tired of this abuse, I should be treated better. I'm your only daughter, the only thing you have left!" I yelled.

His eyes widened, it hurt to speak of Summer. We weren't allowed to.

His eyes were dark, he was angry, very angry.

He hit me in the head and everything went black.
