"Liv? Are you awake?" Jack whispers.
"I am now," I groan.
"How you feeling?"
"Well, I'm tired and sore, but I'm better than I was yesterday."
"Can you stand or walk normally yet?"
"I can try." I slowly swing my legs over the side of my bed and start to push myself up, only to fall right back on the bed when my legs give out. "I don't think so."
Jack sighs. "I don't think you should sell today."
"For once I wasn't planning to."
"Liv, I can stay here and look after you if you want."
"You need to eat Jack. You have to go out and sell."
"Your my little sister, I care more about you than food."
"Well I care more about your well being. Just go, I'll be fine."
He sighs. "For sure?"
"For sure."
"Alright," Jack says, walking towards the door. "I'll try to check in on you, ok?"
"I'll be fine. Just go."
He smiles at me before walking out, leaving me alone in the lodging house.

"Well, this is boring," I mumble to myself. I don't know what I expected when I knew I would be alone, but I didn't think about how absolutely boring it would be. I've already managed to count how many planks of wood there are on the celling, how many cracks there are in the floor, and how many cigars Race has managed to steal in the past few days."Ugh! I never thought I would want Jack to be hanging around with me!"
Suddenly, I hear a knock on a nearby window. I cram my neck to try to see who it is. "Who's there?"
I hear the window slowly creak open. "Liv? Are you in here?"
I smile to myself. "Oscar? Is that you?"
I hear him climb in and walk over to me. "The one and only."
"What are you doing here. You could get caught."
"I didn't see you at the distribution center. I had to make sure my girl was ok."
I smile. "I'm fine. I'm just a little weak and I didn't think selling papes was a good idea today."
"Where is everyone else?"
"What do you think? They're selling papes."
"So...your alone?"
"I'm not sure how to answer that question with your tone," I laugh.
"Well, I guess we can spend some time together now," he says, laying down next to me. "Alone."
"You're insane. Jack or anyone else could walk in at any given moment."
"You said they were out selling."
"This is kind of where they live. They can always come back."
"Well, until they do, I'm going to hang out with my girl," he smiles, putting his arm around me.
"I swear you have a death wish."
"If I die next to you, I would die happy."
"Now you're just being sappy," I laugh.
"So, what have you been up to all day?"
"Nothing interesting. I've just been sitting here counting random things."
