The Peace Keeper

Chapter 8

The night before Kiara had awoken inside a small hut on a stone bed where she had met a small elderly wolf who had said she needed rest and that the "Alpha" wanted to meet her. Kiara groggily opened her eyes exhausted still to find she was still in the hut. She payed her head back down and sighed heavily.

"When will this dream end?" She said to herself out loud.

"Oh, this is quite far from a dream my dear" said a familiar voice from beside her.

Kiara lifted her head and looked over to the side of the bed where the small grey wolf stood. Her eyes were soft and kind looking which gave her a friendly look. She wagged her tail at Kiara and Kiara responded with a tail wag hoping not to be rude.

"Excuse me miss but, where am I?" Kiara asked innocently looking the the wolf a little shaken up. The wolf shook her head.

"I'm afraid that's not for me to tell you but I can tell you one thing, you are going to love it here. By the way, I am Edith." The little old wolf said as she turned to a large tree stump covered with what seemed to be healing herbs and substances of the sort. Kiara blinked and then did her best to look calm and friendly.

"I am Kiara, Nice to meet you Edith, but I don't understand why you can't tell me where I am or why I am here." Kiara questioned as calmly as she could watching the wolf for any facial expression of any sort. The little wolf sighed.

"The alpha wanted me to wait until he met you to tell you everything, why your here, how you got here, and any other questions you might have. I told him you should be feeling better today and he will be coming to talk to you soon." Edith said as she worked on mixing things and added something into whatever she was mixing every once and a while.

Kiara nodded an thought about the black wolf she had saw in the forest. She couldn't quite pin point it but he seemed familiar some how. She hadn't ever met a wolf but somehow his eyes, his face, down thing about him she couldn't stop thinking about. She looked over at the wolf from across the room.

"I don't know for sure how I got here but, before I came here, I was In a worn down she'd like building... And we'll.. I met a wolf there. He was darker than grey but lighter than black I believe, and he had green eyes that glowed so fiercely it was almost like he was looking into my soul.. Do you know him?" Kiara asked her eyes wondering around still examining the room.

The wolf seemed to smile sort of as her eyes sparkled with interest looking towards Kiara.

"I suppose your talking about, Aspen. He is certainly an interesting wolf. We call him the Rescuer. The alpha will tell you more about him." Edith said calmly yet she seemed to enjoy the humor. Kiara felt like blushing but instead her fur stood on end.

"N- No, that's not why I wanted to know who he was I don't like him" Kiara said shaking a bit.

Edith nodded and then there a shuffle of leaves at the door to the hut and Kiara's eyes widened.

"Hello sir, She has a normal temperature and seemed to be doing fine. Good luck!" Edith said and began working again. The huge wolf in the doorway was completely pure white with black tips on his ears. His eyes were a dark chocolate colored brown that watched her with interest as he looked towards her.

"Hello, Kiara." He said in a deep voice.
