"She felt like a complete stranger to me, she was the girl, the flawless dancer I never knew..."

Chapter {4}

CAMERON BOYCE

My heart was pumping more than anything in the world right now. Sitting there in the emergency room, I was feeling terrible. I felt like I did something wrong. It was all my fault! If I had told myself that something was wrong when she kept saying it wasn't,  none of this would've  happened in the first place.

"Cameron?" A familiar voice called in front of me. I looked up from the ground.

"Aunt Tia?"

"Cameron? I thought you were in the hospital, that's why I rushed here! What's going on?"

"No, I'm fine as ever, but my best friend sure as hell isn't."

"Is she okay? I mean she'll be fine right?" She asked, sitting down in the chair right next to me. I shrugged.

"I don't know. The doctors won't let me in until she's all set up and made sure to be okay. I don't know what's wrong with her either. She never gave out any personal information like that to anyone and I've known her for years. Almost ten now."

"What happened?"

"I asked her what was her worst childhood memory and she started freaking out and she got all weird like. It's like she lost a part of herself."

"You really care about her don't you Cameron?"

"Of course I do, she absolutely means the world to me and I wouldn't know what to do without her. I've spent my life with her, my childhood dreams, and I promised myself that I'll never forget her even if our friendship was ruined somehow."

"So what are you going to do when the doctors let you see her? What are you going to say to her?"

"I just want to know the truth behind it."

"Behind what?"

"Behind everything. She's hiding something from me, I just know it. We're supposed to be best friends and best friends tell each other everything right? I know she's keeping things from me to protect me and my feelings but I'd rather be broken then to see her suffer."

"Oh Cameron." She cooed. She placed an arm around me and rubbed my back gently.

"Excuse me sir, are you Cameron? The guy who brought Angel to the hospital right?"

"Yes, I am matter of fact..."

"She wants to see you. Follow me." He motions his finger to follow.  I obeyed and followed behind him, which he led me to a hospital room with two beds; one on each side. The right one was empty and the left side was filled with balloons, cards, stuffed animals, and a sleeping Angel in bed. "She's all yours" the doctor tells me. "She's all yours." He then smiles and leaves the room. I sat in the chair playing with a rubix cube she had got.

"Cameron?" I heard Her soft voice call. I stood up.

"Angel?"

"C-Cameron I-I"

"No," I touched her hand, interrupting her. "I'm sorry. I should've took you to the hospital even if you said nothing was wrong. I knew there was something going to happen, I just didn't know when. I feel disgraceful. I feel ashamed." I frowned.

"Cameron..." She sighed.

"What? What's wrong? Tell me now, please tell me! Just get it off your chest."

"Alright then. It's time to tell you the truth."

"The truth? The truth about what?"

"It's time to tell you," she took another sigh. "It's time to tell you the truth about my tragic past that I have been keeping from you since it ever happened. You see-"

"Excuse me, Cameron?"

"Yes?" I turned towards the door. You are Doctor-??"

"Doctor Carla is the name. We need to talk. Come with me." She says , concerned. He turns around and leads the way, expecting me to follow. I follow into a room which appears to be shown as an office. She motions for me to sit in one of the chairs facing her work desk. As I sit, She takes a seat herself.

I'm afraid I have some bad news and some good news. Which do you wanna hear first?" She questioned as she clasped her hands together and placing them on the desk, leaning forward. I chewed on my lip, choosing not to answer to result my nerves to calm down before the worse could happen.

"Alright then, not going to choose? I'll choose for you." She frowned. "I'm honestly concerned about Angel's health. Has she ever mention to you any symptoms she's been having lately? Sweating, high fevers, weakness in bones and muscles?"

"No, she hasn't mention anything like that at all, and I'm surprised... I'm her best friend, she tells me almost everything she's feeling, why what's wrong?"

"I'm afraid she needs to get special medical help for this certain complication. Has she ever told you she's in some sort of depression state or maybe showed you any signs of depression?"

"No, to me she looks absolutely fine. Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

"Look, Cameron I guarantee you that I am not mistaken, this is very serious for such a valuable and innocent little girl, and for such at a young age, its unbelievably scary."

"Well, can you fix her? Can't she be cured? Is she gonna die?" I questioned, worryingly.

"No she not going to die, hopefully."

"Hopefully? What is that suppose to mean?

"Well... In this type of age category, this normally does not happen, it's very rare is what I'm trying to say. Although, you responded a question you asked which was can we fix her? And the answer to your first question is Yes, we can handle this type of problem in here at the hospital but it might require an overnight stay and a 24 hour day rest."

"Will it go away in that time?"

"No not necessarily, it'll heal her."

"Heal her?! What the hell does she have?" I stood with my hands on her desk.

"Cameron, you need to calm down. She will be okay."

"Doctor, I'm not going to ask you again after this... What the hell does she have  or what the hell is she carrying?" I growled at her in a low tone.

"Anxiety is one of them."

"Okay, what's the other then? And I want the truth." I said, stern. She sighed before she gave me the devastating news I ever heard in my life.

"We think it's stage two cancer."
