CHAPTER 4

"So do you guys take the doves or do you just sell them?"

We were all sitting around a broken old coffee table in one of the rooms of the house. Posters of naked women were on the walls of the room, not to mention they weren't straight. To be completely honest, it was bugging the hell out of me.

"I just sell. Some guys take it too but," Zayn chuckled. "Too risky for me."

"Why won't you? I mean isn't it supposed to give you some amazing high and you can see aliens or some shit?" Obviously I didn't know much about it, but here I am trying to get some and maybe sell it.
He laughed at me.
"Have you seen the effects of it on people? They look almost anorexic after a couple years. If you're serious about this stuff I don't recommend taking it for yourself, just sell to the idiots who don't understand. It makes you have some crazy high yeah, but the long term effects suck ass." I nodded. Maybe I shouldn't do this. I mean sure I could get some cash out of it, but if I get caught...

"My man, sup Malik?" A man came in, a few years older than Zayn maybe. His hair was short, in an average and simple style. He was fairly skinny and fairly short as well. Maybe a few inches taller than me. His eyes were a piercing green and he had no emotion on his face what so ever.

"Jake dude, nothing much. Came to get a refill." Zayn said.
"You know I always got your back bro. Oh, who's the pretty lady?" Jake said averting his eyes from Zayn to me. I shyly looked up at him from my place on the couch.

"A girl from school. She wants in." Zayn nodded to me. I looked in his pretty eyes and moved mine back to Jake.
"Alright sweetheart, fine with me. Just don't cause us any trouble." He warned.

"I-i" I stuttered and cleared my throat. "I won't." I said cowardly.
"Oh," Jake pointed up his finger. "Stay away from Harlin. Complete fuckin' wackjob. I buy from him. He's not a seller like Zayn, he takes it too. You'll see when he comes in." I nodded. I wondered what this guy looked like. He's the talk of the whole group basically. Even though it is just the two of them that I've met so far.

Another man walked in the door, and the room fell silent. He stood, his hands in his pockets sniffling as he walked in. His eyes were sunken in than most, he looked tired.
He was neatly dressed, his shirt tucked in with a black blazer over top. His hair was fairly long, and brow. His hair was wavy, like the calm ripples created after a pebble was thrown in a lake. His face remained emotionless, his jaw clenched as he spoke.

"Hi."

That's all he said. One word. One single word and I gasped, surprised at his voice. It was so... Sexy. It was deep and the way he spoke, he just seemed so intelligent and hot.

He moved to a seat in the corner, without saying another word.

"Well uh, that's Harlin. Our boss." Jake spoke. I looked to Harlin, taking another look at his features. He was skinny, but not super skinny like Zayn described. He was healthy looking. I looked in his eyes, they were a green. Dull green. He looked tired, upset, mad, crazy even. Although he looked this way, he was very attractive.

I finally realized after I snapped out of it that he too was staring at me. Same facial expression as before, jaw tight. I cleared my throat and looked down.

"Harlin, do you have the restock?" Zayn said.
"When do I not, dumbfuck. Its in the same place as it always is." He moved his hand to his face, running his fingers along his strong jawline. Zayn left to get the doves, in a different room. Jake was still standing in the corner, smoking a cigarette.

I put my hands in my lap and looked down, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

"Who's this." It wasn't a question. It was a demand. Harlin was speaking to Jake.
"Zayn brought her. Said she wants in." Jake replied.
"What, does she not have a fuckin' name, a voice? Speak up, doll."

"H-hi." I said quietly.
"Name." He said with the same expression he's had since he came in here.
"Ellie." I voiced my name, the words escaping softly off my lips. He didn't say another word to me.

"Alright here we go. I'll give you half my shipment baby-cakes. One time deal, though. No charge for a newbie." Zayn winked, coming in with a box.

"Someone has a new found love. Baby-cakes?" Jake snickered, "I mean she is pretty hot but damn, didn't think she was your type."

"I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk like I'm not here, thanks." I crossed my arms, still sitting on the couch.
"Come on baby, don't be such a hard ass. Just kidding around. What do you say we have a quick fuck in the back room? There's a bed and everything." He inched closer to me, and by the time he finished his sentence he was leaning over me, about two inches from my face. When he said this, I immediately pictured just a mattress on the floor, no sheets. How many whores have actually done... stuff back there.

"Leave me alone." I spoke confidently. I've came to the conclusion that I don't like Jake.

"You wanna play hard to get?" Jake stroked my face trying to look into my eyes. I looked away and didn't reply.

"Look at me." Jake spoke, I didn't.

"I said, look at me." He said in a stern tone, grabbing my jaw.

"Don't fucking touch me." I said finally looking him in the eyes.

"You stupid girl. You do realize who you're talking to right? No one says no to me." Jake spoke, getting more angry with each word.

"Fuck off Jake. Leave the girl alone." Harlin spat angrily, probably forgetting my name already.

"Why ruin my good time mate? Just having some fun with her Harry." Jake gasped, and I furrowed my brows. The room was silent again.

Harry?

"What the fuck did you just say?" Harlin's (now apparently his name is fucking Harry) voice was heard in the room, almost as an angry roar. A quiet one, but a roar none the less.

"Harlin I-"
"No fuck you! You know the god damn rules! You know! You fucking know!" Harlin screamed at Jake, inching closer to him.

"I'm sorry-"
"Sorry doesn't fucking cut it, Jake." Harlin grabbed Jake by the collar, all the while still hovering over me.
They stared at each other intensely before Harlin let go. Harlin looked me in the eyes and with his plump and pink lips he whispered,
"Good luck in the business."
He, after that, as quick as a cheetah was out of the room in seconds. And I, followed suit.
