Mia

I looked at his hand, then to his smiling sunshine face, then back to his hand, then back to his face.

What is wrong with this dude? I barely even knew him. But what if he gets angry again? What if he is a deranged psychopath? What if the only way to keep him calm-

‘Um, Mia, you are staring into space…’ The man –Alexander said. I should probably start calling him by his name now that I know it.

‘Oh um, well hello to you too, Alexander,’ I said reaching out and shaking his hand, hoping that he wouldn't notice my reluctance.

'So Mia, how long have you been in Rome?' Alexander asked. The dude is trying to make small talk, just great. 'Um, I got here yesterday,' I replied, surely he must have known that. 'Oh, when are you leaving?' he asked, pretending to be interested. 'Tomorrow,' I lied, not wanting to give him my real flight details considering his a stalker-slash-psychopath.

Alexander looked at me skeptically, ‘You know, I don’t like liars,’ he stated coldly.

‘What makes you think I am lying?’ I retorted. The fact that he could sense that I was lying freaked me out. I am a human, I have stated some lies in the past, but never ever had been caught. I mean I sometimes lie when I tell designers I like the outfits that they want me to model, I lie when I tell my manager I am feeling fine enough to do a photo shoot even when I am not, I even lied when I was a kid and had misplaced something! All those times, i had gotten away, so getting caught now, that too by man from the elevat- Alexander, was surely a first.

‘I can tell when people lie and I most certainly dislike it,’ he said.

‘Don’t we all?’ I spoke, sarcasm dripping from each word. ‘Watch your tone there love,’ he growled, once again I might add.

What is with this man and growling? It is like the smallest thing gets him angry!  A part of me hated the fact that Alexander –yes! I finally called him by his proper name- always wanted me to do what he told me to and just expected me to follow out ever single one of his orders, but another part of me just couldn’t help but feel some sort of connection with him; that he was genuinely concern about me and knew what was best for me. But then again, I don’t like being told what to do. ‘Why do you just magically expect me to do everything that you tell me to?’ I blurted out.

‘Because I know what is best for you, love,’ Alexander simply stated…well, that totally was a lot of help. I do not care how hot the man opposite me is, his I-am-the-boss-and-only-I-know-what-is-right attitude sure as hell is annoying and getting on my nerves.

‘I am done with breakfast, nice speaking to you Alexander,’ I said politely, keeping my cool while getting up and turning around, ‘lets hope I never see you again,’ I muttered rudely under my breath.

Before I knew what was happening, Alexander stood in front of me and blocked my exit. His eyes were stormy and full of anger while a vein on his forehead was rather comically throbbing. ‘Where do you thin you are going Mia?’ he demanded, one of his gigantic hands wrapping over my arm. ‘To my room…’ I huffed in annoyance, something I was going very often since I first met Alexander.

‘Oh no you’re not, you haven’t even eaten a full breakfast yet,’ he scolded like a parent would to a child. Great, now he was making me feel like a child! ‘I am nineteen, I can do what I want!’ I shot at him while attempting to get my arm out of his death grip. 'Let go of me! You can't tell me what to do! You're not my father, not even my brother and most certainly not my boyfriend!'

Realization finally dawned upon him because he let go, looking hurt and deep in thought... seriously this guy takes too many things to heart. Seizing the opportunity I pushed my way past him and headed for the elevator and pressed my floor number, waiting as the door slowly closed.

‘Wait!’ his voice called out as he dashed towards the elevator and I began to frantically hope to the heavens that he would be too late, but luck was just not on my side today because he slipped inside just as the doors were to close. And just like that is was deja vu from last night... well, except for the fact that his friend was not here, but he doesn't count becasue I hardly even noticed him. Dare I say it, but last night, I was too busy gawking over Alexander, who still looks hot as lava today.

‘Damn it!’ I cursed under my breath lightly, snapping out of all my thoughts. ‘What do you think you are doing Alexander?’ I asked questioningly, looking him directly in the eye and raising an eyebrow.

‘Dropping you to your room,’ he answered nonchalantly like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I couldn't help but let out a quick smile at this thoguhtful gesture, but then immdeitaly replaced it with a frown and mentally scolded myself because I am a grown up, I most certainly do not need to be dropped off to my room.

I was about to respond, but luckily we reached my floor and the doors began to open. I stepped out of the elevator, only to see a gang of paps waiting outside my door, cameras in hand.

‘Shit!’ I hopped back inside the elevator, hoping they hadn’t noticed me and watched once again as the doors slowly close.

‘Hey! There she is!’ I heard a voice call from outside and in a flash they all began to sprint towards the elevator, but it was too late and the doors had closed.

‘So now what are you going to do?’ Alexander smirked cockily. Damn, I had almost forgotten that he was still here.

‘Look, can you stop being so annoying and start being helpful?’ I lashed out.

‘Now love, no need to be rude,’ he said, unaffected by my viciousness or temper, ‘you can come to my room, call security from there and they will clear the situation for you.’

‘Really?’ I asked skeptically, ‘you wont try any funny stuff?’

‘No funny stuff,’ he promised solemnly.

I mentally weighed my options before finally nodding my head. ‘Okay, I will come to your room.’

Alexander grinned like a child on Christmas. He was on the floor below me and I walked quietly besides him towards his room.

‘Oh! And one more thing love,’ he began. ‘What?’ I asked in a bored tone.

Alexander flashed my a cocky smirk and said, ‘by the time security is done, I am not sure if you will want to leave me.’
