Mia

Lost.

In the middle of the forest –lost.

That is where I was. Huge trees shot up towards the sky, covering any spec of sunlight from entering the dark maze of confusion. I walked cautiously through the dense forest, always watching my step; trying my best not to panic.

I scanned the area, but it all looked the same. sky-kissing trees, blood red soil, prickly bushes and darkness that casued hope to drain from me.
Biting my lip I crumbled to the floor, every last bit of hope escaping my body. I was lost. Tears swelled in my eyes, threatening to spill as soft sobs left my lips.
Suddenly, I heard a deep threatening growl causing me to hush my sobs. Shifting my gaze forward, my vision fell on the shadows and I saw a jet black wolf, with eyes as blue as the sea. Almost carefully the wolf took a step further, a step towards me making me flinch.
Instantly I turned around and ran faster than I ever had like my life depended on it.

I kept running, not daring to look back, when suddenly I collided with a thick muscular chest. Looking up, my tear-filled gaze fell upon a set of ocean blue eyes.
It was him.

‘Oh love! You are so beautiful, please don’t cry, don’t worry, you are safe now. I will always protect you,’ he murmured in an adorable British accent, placing a small peck on my forehead and his soft hands gently caressed my arms.
I stood there, frozen like a statue, still staring at the knight in front of me. Relief took over my body as his words finally sunk in and I flung my arms around his broad chest.
‘Do you promise?’ I asked, not bothering to hide my vulnerability.
‘I promise.’

My eyes flung open, but my heart was still pounding. It was all just a dream, yet so real.

I woke up in the comfort of my plush bedroom under the warm duvet and soft pillows. Stretching my arms and stiffening a yawn I practically forced myself out of bed.

After I showered and wore a fresh set of clothes, I glanced outside my bedroom window, to be welcomed by a feirce mob a paps waiting outside.
Shoot! How do those leeches constantly know where I am? I sighed, tying my hair into a ponytail and opened my makeup pouch and removed my foundation.

‘Oh love! You are so beautiful’ The words softly echoed in my mind making me come to a halt.

Shaking my head, I tried to get rid of those thoughts and continued to apply my makeup.
Finally after getting ready, I headed down for breakfast. Besides, I had three hours to myself before I had to head to the airport.

I walked into the private lounge that the hotel had kept empty just for me. What? Being a model does have some privileges.

Breakfast was set out- yogurt, fresh fruits and some almonds soaked in milk just like I had requested. Then, there was also bacon, boiled eggs, toast, pancakes and cheese; things that I had most certainly not requested. Oh well, they must be complimentary.

I sat down on the small table for two, facing the view of the busy Roman streets.

‘Ah, I see you have already started without me,’ his husky masculine voice spoke, the British accent as prominent as ever.

I snapped my head around to see him. The man from the elevator! And from my dream… oh no, that sounds so wrong!

‘What are you doing here? I specifically asked for a private breakfast! So I could be alone,’ I said, my teeth gritted.

‘Now love, no need to throw a tantrum, all is well,’ he said with a cheeky hint of amusement in his tone.

‘Look, I am going to complain to the hotel. You may be my fan, but now you are just becoming a stalker!’ I exasperated.

‘I never said I was your fan. And don’t go around complaining to the hotel, it will be useless,’ he said, sitting down and grabbing some toast and bacon.

‘Oh yeah?’ I asked, raising my eyebrow and giving him a questioning look. ‘And why is that?’

‘Because I know the man who owns the hotel, that’s why I am here, love,’ he said, making my heart flutter at the affectionate nickname that he had for me.

‘Go away.’ I stated flatly.

‘No.’

‘What do you want?’

‘You.’

‘What?’ I gasped. ‘You can’t have me!’ I exclaimed.

‘I am just messing with you,’ he said half-heartedly. ‘Now relax and enjoy breakfast.

‘I am not hungry,’ I stubbornly folded my arms. What is wrong with me? I shouldn’t even be talking to this stranger.

‘Love, you are very skinny, you need to eat.’

‘I am a model, I have to be skinny.’

‘Eat. Now.’

‘No!’ I exclaimed, getting up from my chair. ‘I am not going to take orders from you! I don’t even know you! Fuck! I am out of here,’ I huffed in annoyance.

‘Get back here,’ he scolded, grabbing onto my arm from across the table and pulling me back down to my chair in one swift tug.

I looked at him and all of the sudden, all my anger evaporated out of my body and was replaced with fear. The man had his eyes closed and he took in sharp jagged breaths, mumbling incoherently. With eyebrows knitted into a tough frown and his fists balled up tightly, he was one scary sight.

‘Um… are you okay?’ I said a soft whisper.

‘Yeah, I am fine,’ he said controlling himself and opening his eyes. ‘You know what, you are right… you don’t know me… even thought I knew you…’ he trailed off, looking lost in thought. He knew me? Stalker.

‘Okay…’ I muttered. This is awkward.

The man reached out across the table and stuck out his hand, like a businessman after making a deal.

‘Hello Mia, I am Alexander.’
