Mia
I snapped my head back to Alexander, who was now fuming with anger. Oh no, this can’t be good.
I reach out and grabbed his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze; this seemed to have gotten his attention back to me because his gaze once again focused on me.
‘Just ignore him,’ I told Alexander giving him a small smile. I looked back at Roger to see that he had joined two blonde girls on a table near the entrance.
Alexander loosened up and nodded.
‘You’re right love, let’s not ruin this night,’ said Alexander as the food came.
‘So why were you in Rome?’ he asked sparking the conversation.
‘I was there for a photo shoot, obviously,’ I spoke in a bored tone, fighting the urge to role my eyes. Seriously, I am model… what else would I be doing? I took a bite of my salad and watched as Alexander took a bite of his stake.
Taking a sip of my wine, I noticed a little bit of sauce had found its way to the edge of his lip and call me weird, but for some reason, I felt a bit jealous… of the sauce. I shook my head; it must have been a really long day and I must just be delusional. Seriously, who gets jelous of sauce?
And then in front of my very eyes, Alexander’s tongue poked out, slid to the corner of his lips and all too sexily swiped that little bit of sauce and went back in. Oh that teaser of a tongue! How I just wish I could just jump across the table and just place my mouth over his so that our tongues could celebrate like long lost lovers.
Unfortunately, I was snapped out of my thoughts when a bit of wine accidently went to my windpipe. That’s right, I choked. I coughed unsteadily, trying to get that wine up and brought my napkin to my mouth, struggling to breath.
‘Are you all right?’ Alexander immediately asked in concern.
‘I’m fi-’ I started, but was cut off when another un-ladylike cough.
I finally managed to pull myself together and cleared my throat.
Well that probably killed the mood, I would totally understand if Alexander never wanted to see me again after that, the thought of Alexander not wanting me making my heart sting.
‘So what were you doing in Rome?’ I asked, trying to stimulate the conversation once again.
‘Um, business,’ he hastily replied, struggling for words.
‘Really?’ I cocked my eyebrow. ‘What do you do?’ I asked out of genuine curiosity.
‘It’s a family business,’ he replied, scratching the back of his neck, looking down at his food. ‘We own a bit of land so we have to take care of it and the people living there…’ he trailed off.
‘So you are like a landlord?’ I asked, a bit confused.
‘Yes, I guess you could say that,’ Alexander said. This was really confusing… that’s seriously all he did?
‘That doesn’t explain what you were doing in Rome,’ I said.
‘I was meeting a man, one who is in the same business as me… we had to make a… deal…’ Alexander struggled to choose his words.
‘Okay…’ I said dropping the conversation and finishing the food on my plate.
‘So what would you like for desert?’ asked Alexander.
‘Oh, um, I don’t eat desert,’ I replied, not wanting to tell him that I count my calories.
‘You are full with just that?’ asked Alexander in surprise.
‘Yes, I am a model, I have to eat healthy, desert is mainly sugar and carbs,’ I told him, hoping he would take the bullshit “healthy” excuse.
‘All right love, if you are sure,’ said Alexander as he called for the check.
‘Really Alexander, we should split the bill,’ I said when the waiter arrived.
‘No love, this was our first date, I insist to pay,’ he said, leaving the money on the table.
I smiled to myself, this being the most flawless date that I had ever been on with Alexander being the perfect British gentleman that I had always wanted.
We both got up and made our way to the exit, when suddenly a voice called out.
‘Mia! Hey! Is that you?’ the unmistakable voice of Roger Carter asked making me freeze.
I turned around and looked at his table, Alexander losing his patience next to me. I really need to put this asshole straight.
I noticed the two blondes looking at me coldly while Roger was checking me out, making me want to vomit… on his smug face!
‘Oh hi Roger!’ I said politely giving him a fake smile. ‘I didn’t notice you at all because you see, I was on a date with my boyfriend,’ I said, my hands snaking around alexander’s arm.
‘Oh…’ said Roger disheartened, his smug smile fading. ‘So you are the boyfriend?’ he asked Alexander. I looked at Alexander in confusion. What did Roger mean?
‘Yes,’ stated Alexander firmly. ‘And you must be the prick who keeps calling my girl.’
My heart fluttered when he called me his girl, but I knew the tone in his vice and before he could start a fight, I smashed my lips onto his, our mouths molding perfectly. I felt Alexander’s tongue gently stroke my lips, begging for permission to enter, he even gave kisses like a gentleman.
As much as I would love to taste his tongue, I remembered we were in a restaurant and pulled away with all my self-control.
‘It was nice seeing you Roger,’ I spat and left the building with Alexander by my side.
‘Where is the car?’ I asked once we were out into the cold chilly London streets with stone buildings surrounding us.
‘It’s right down the block love,’ he said, making me sigh, regretting my choice of shoes. ‘If you like, I could get the car while you wait here,’ he suggested, almost as if he could read my mind.
I smiled and said, ‘That would be nice,’ making sure my teeth wouldn’t chatter, a small shiver running down my spine
Alexander chuckled and took off his blazer, placing it over my shoulder. ‘No! Alexander! What are you doing?’ I asked in shock, noticing he only had a thin white shirt on.
‘Don’t deny it love you are cold. I could see goose bumps on your arms, besides I am use to the London weather,’ he explained and walked off to get the car, a now very prominent smile hanging on my lips.
I watched as Alexander disappeared down the lane and waited quietly as the chilly breeze blew across my face.
Suddenly, the silence was shattered when an unfamiliar ringtone blasted from Alexander’s blazer pocket.
I took out his phone and looked at the caller ID that said “Marcus”.
Marcus? Who was that?
I picked up his phone and pressed it against my ear.
‘Hello? Alexander?’ a deep voice spoke from the phone. ‘You were right about Belgium! This rogue is more dangerous than I thought, but she is on neutral territory. So I am calling to tell you to make your men back the hell off so that mine can do the job!’ the man growled.
I quickly hung up, what was the man talking about.
Territory? Men? Kill? Oh my God! Now I know why Alexander was so uncomfortable when I ask him about his "family business"!
This could only mean one thing!
Alexander is a mob boss!
