It was our two months anniversary and we were so happy!
So happy!
After, we had gone out for lunch and talked about literally everything.
I remember having that conversation with Theo, at a lunch, after he met my parents. He told me how much he loved my dad and how he thought my mum was caring and brother was funny. He just kept talking about my dad and that was nice.
They didn't have the same opinions and for that I am completely thankful - sort of...
"You're brother seems very nice and so do your parents." Mark started.
"Yeah, I love them - well obviously I love them! They are pretty amazing!" I jumped in seeming a little pushy.
"I totally agree!" I knew he hadn't formed an actual opinion on them yet due to his lack of speech: "I totally agree" and "seems very nice."
However, that is okay. He's met them once and this makes it acceptable for him to be not sure about them.
"It would be nice to meet your parents..." I added.
"Yeah, they only live about an hour away. We could go now, if you would like?"
"Well I'm not sure, I... Erm... Do they know about me?"
"Yes and they love the sound of you! Come on!"
We drove off in his Audi and listened to classic 00's music all the way.
Mark was thirty and he loved lots of 90's stuff as well - I guess I like some of the music.
When we pulled up the drive way the only thing in site was, arguably, the biggest house that Oxford had ever seen!
"They're millionaires." Mark pointed out.
"Oh right. I am dressed okay or... Erm..." I answered.
"You're absolutely fine!"
I was wearing a nice blouse with small red spots and a black skater skirt - strictly knee length. I had on black Mary Jane shoes with a small heel and it was finished with my red material coat and scarf.
"Hello darling!" His mum started,"Welcome to our home."
"Thank you it is very nice to be here." I replied.
"We enjoy the company! Don't we Reginald?"
"Yeah of course!" He replied.
"So, Mia isn't it?" She asked.
"Yes."
"How long have you been going around with my son?"
"Two months, now."
"Very nice!"
She was about to say something else when a girl came through the door.
"Hi, mum..." She started, "MARK!!"
The girl ran up to him and hugged him!
"Baby sis! Meet my girlfriend!" Mark exclaimed.
"Hello!" She said to me. "I'm Alice!"
"Hi, I'm Mia."
"I know!"
We had a very nice evening. I learnt that Alice is twenty two and is in her last year of university - she took a gap year to travel within America with her friends. Alice is studying to be a architect and hopes to design a shopping centre one day! She studies at Oxford University.
Mark's mum is called Susanna and his dad is called Reginald. They own a company that distributes magazines and this is called a media institution.
They have an apartment in New York because they tend to be over there a lot with business - Alice says that this is good because she tends to have the huge house to herself and she likes it!
It was almost nine o'clock at night and Mark's parents insisted we stayed the night.
They were really nice and Alice gave me some clothes to sleep in and for the next day. I was extremely apprehensive about sleeping in the same bed as Mark because I had never done it before. It was fine, I guess.
Due to Mark's family being very posh with their designer everything I had adopted a fake posh accent, that I used around them - I think Mark picked up on it. Naturally, I felt bad about the accent thing. I didn't mean to mock them or anything it just came within seconds of entering their lovely home!
Theo made me a promise: to be always himself in his simplest form, to not change himself to impress anybody! I think I owe it to him to do the same...
Despite immense effort, I could not be myself whilst in those grounds. I am from up north and my accent was very broad. Yes, it had changed a lot whilst I lived in Mayfair, but not enough to sound like I was from London.
I will try, for mine and Theo's friendship!
