It's been three weeks since Klaus saved me and Cami from Aurora, it was now Christmas and I still haven't heard from my brother. I was really starting to worry because this year would be the first time I've celebrated any kind of family holiday with Jackson. I already screwed up Thanksgiving, I didn't want to spend Christmas without him.

One of the compelled servants poured her blood into two goblets, one was for me and the other was for Klaus. She handed the first glass to me.

"Thank you," I smiled before taking a sip.

"Do they, like, pay you?" Cami asked.

I let out a laugh and Klaus walked in and joined us.

"Handsomely and with a generous Christmas bonus," he told her as he took his glass of blood from the woman. "Isn't that right?"

She nodded before walking away. Klaus smiled at us before sitting down.

"So, you compel her to nod and agree with whatever you say?" Cami asked him.

"I compel her to feed me and to hang the occasional Christmas ornament. She can say whatever the hell she wants."

Cami laughed.

"You seem better," I told her.

"Yeah, thank you for letting me stay here the last couple of days and giving me space to not talk."

"Of course," I smiled, taking another drink of my blood before looking at Klaus. "Why didn't you go with Elijah to help Rebekah?"

"I hope it's not to stay and babysit me," Cami added.

"It's not a good idea for he and I to spend hours together in confined spaces, given that the prophecy foretells one family member felled by another."

I gave him a worried look. "You don't think he would hurt you?"

Klaus looked at me. "I don't know what to think."

He then sighed and leaned forward to put his glass on the table.

"The damn fortune-teller's predictions continue to unfold, despite all our efforts . . ."

I leaned forward and put my glass down before reaching over to place my hand on top of him, comfortingly. "Hey, we'll figure this out."

Klaus looked at me and we just stared at each other.

Suddenly, Cami got a text.

"It's Vincent," she told us. "I have to go."

I let go of Klaus' hand and leaned back into my seat. "Okay. Let me know if you need any help."

"Okay," she nodded before getting up and leaving the compound.

"I should go too," I told Klaus.

He furrowed his brows in confusion. "Where to?"

"I have to see Jackson. It's been weeks and he still hasn't come home. I can't--I don't want to spend Christmas without him. I won't, he's my family."

Klaus nodded in understanding. "Go."

I gave him a smile. "Thank you."

After leaving the compound, I went across the street to see Hayley and we left to go to the Bayou together. We were sitting on a picnic table outside my old shack and waited for Jackson. After awhile, he emerged from the woods carrying firewood and his ax. He paused when he saw us, but when he looked at me, his expression turned cold and I felt so guilty. I never wanted him to look at me like that.
