Jenna's POV
•••
"So...what do you wanna talk about?" I asked Harry as we sat in one of the VIP boxes atop the stadium.
"First of all..that dress is unfair."
"Why? I love this dress."
"So do I. That's why it's unfair. And I didn't even get the honor of buying it for you."
"Ok, really? Aren't we over the whole Zayn jealousy thing?"
"Yea, yea. Sorry. I just...I really do love that dress."
"That's why we bought it. We knew you would. Seems kinda silly now, though." I laughed.
"Why?"
"Because you said yourself you didn't wanna be with me. So we bought a dress for someone that didn't even care. It was foolish. As much as I wish I could take it all back...it's gonna stick with me forever." I shrugged. I didn't even think before the words fell from my mouth.
"You...you wish you could take it all back? Like there never be an us?"
"I mean...I don't know. Kinda. I just feel silly. Imagine being so deeply in love that you would die for someone, and then find out it was all a lie...and they didn't want you at all."
"It wasn't a lie." He said looking away.
"So you lied about lying? You don't make much sense, Harry."
"Listen. I know I don't make sense. Let me clear everything up. First off: I didn't sleep with Emily. Second: I love you and will always love you." I can't even process what he's said. He continues to talk, but I don't hear anything. All I can do is shake my head back and forth and stare at the ground. "Jenna...please say something."
"What do you mean you didn't sleep with Emily! How could you lie to me right now, Harry! I've just come to terms with the whole thing and now you're trying to say it didn't happen?!"
"Because it didn't. I'm sorry, Jenna."
"Why would you let me believe it did then?!" I don't understand. Why would he want me to think he slept with another girl? Another girl I was admittedly jealous of.
"I let you believe it because it was the only way you could get over me. I'm no good for you, Jenna. You deserve so much more."
"That's not your decision to make, Harry! You're the best man I know. The best guy for me. Just because you don't think so doesn't mean it's not true."
"But we fight so much, Jenna. We're fighting right now."
"WE ARE NOT FIGHTING!" I steady my breath, realizing how silly I sounded. "So what if we fight, Harry. We wouldn't be in a healthy relationship if we didn't fight. We fight because we love each other. And all that matters is that everything's ok in the end..."
He was speechless. I can't believe he tried to make this decision for me. I try to wrap my head around everything.
"If you didn't sleep with her...where were you all night?" I couldn't bring myself to say her name. She disgusted me.
"I was at her hotel." I stood up and began to walk away. "Hold on! Let me explain everything before you get more upset with me." I turned just in time to see the hurt in his eyes before he looked down. "When I met with her back at that restaurant, I told her coming back was a mistake. But she said getting one drink wouldn't be that big of a deal."
"And you believed her."
"Let me finish. We went to a nearby bar and I felt like shit. I wanted to be with you, but I knew you were mad at me. So I kept drinking. About 12 shots and a karaoke contest later, I woke up in her bed. But she wasn't there. I guess I took over her bed and made her sleep on the couch. She wasn't too happy about that."
The thought of her not getting what she wanted actually made me smile, but the situation still sucked.
"I can't believe you did that to me..."
"I know, baby. I shouldn't have gone back with her."
"No Harry. Not that." My stomach fluttered when he called me baby. I missed that so much. "I can't believe you let me think something happened. Do you know how much pain I was in? How much I cried? I didn't leave my room for a week, Harry. I didn't eat. I slept and watched Netflix. I kept my phone off too. You destroyed me."
"I...I didn't think it'd effect you like that."
"Then you're a fucking dumbass." He looked up to me with bloodshot eyes. I hate when he cries. He's so vulnerable. It makes it nearly impossible to stay mad. Hold your ground, Jenna. Stay strong.
"I know. That's why you shouldn't be with me. I'm wrong for you."
"No, Harry. You're wrong for anyone BUT me. You really think anyone else would put up with the crap I through for you? Not in a million years." His eyes slammed closed and he threw his head back as if he was trying to make it to where tears could no longer fall. BE. STRONG. JENNA.
"I'm so sorry."
"We'll see about that." I said heading to the door. "Actions speak louder than words, Styles."
