An Unexpected Encounter

The next week finally arrived and we finally discovered how the groups had been constituted for the rest of the year and thus, with whom would we be playing for the final representation. I was glad to discover that I would be spending the rest of the year with Gwendoline, Téo, Michael and Cassandra. The fact that I had already seen them before made it for me to go up to them and act with them.

This first proper class mostly consisted into presentations and games. I was still quite reserved and did not really dare approaching the others outside the activities so I decided to wait until the next class to see what happened.

The thing I had forgotten was that I had been invited to Morgane's 18 birthday party on Saturday night. Since I had a gift for her, I forced myself to go. I knew I would have to meet her new girlfriend and this was the last thing I was prepared to do but I went anyway because I thought that was a good way to force me to move on and, perhaps, meet someone new there. And I indeed met someone but not the way I expected.

Let's rewind a bit. I took the train to go to the birthday party and Morgane picked me up at the station to go to the party because I didn't know the town where it was taking place. When we arrived, many people (family and friends) were already there so she just disappeared into the dark cloud they were forming and left me there, all alone and I didn't know anyone. So I took every ounce of courage I could gather in me and walked in. I opened the door only to discover the most wonderful surprise ever. Right in front of me, on the opposite side of the ball room, was standing a girl, alone, texting. And this was the best surprise ever because this girl was Gwendoline. A smile flashed on my face, I approached her swiftly and, without thinking of it, I hugged her. Even if at first she seemed to be surprised she hugged me back and laughed. When we let go of each other, I reintroduced myself and we started talking. We spent the all night talking and dancing. Neither of us knew at that moment that we would become so close, closer that best friends, we would become unbiological sisters.

At one point, the air in the room was so hot that we decided to go take a bit of fresh air. As we stepped outside, a blonde girl, visibly drunk, stumbled towards us and, all while laughing, asked Gwen and I if she could kiss us. Gwen refused, explaining that they grew up together and that it would have been like kissing her own sister. I didn't know the girl and thought that I would never see her again so I agreed. Gwen was rather surprised by my answer and the other girl, whose name was Lisa, smiled and leaned in. She didn't kiss me immediately so I took a step forward and kissed her. The fact that she was a great kisser, though a drunk one, was obvious but this kiss sent a shiver down my spine, reminding me that I hadn't been kissed since Morgane had left me. Lisa left us immediately after the end of the kiss, apparently satisfied and went to other people to ask them if she could kiss them. Gwen and I remained there, surprised but amused. I remember her asking me if I was a lesbian and I replied that I was, in fact, bisexual. She smiled at me and I felt there a sort of surprise and, at the same time, curiosity. However, her timidity and our budding friendship dissuaded me from returning the question nor asking her why did she seem curious about it. I just said that I knew Morgane because she was my ex-girlfriend.

We went back inside for I was feeling quite thirsty and needed to freshen up. There were so many people that I asked Gwen not to leave me or I wouldn't be able to find her after. Indeed, Morgane's family was here as well as some friends from high school so they rented a huge ball room to be able to fit everyone. Since it was quite far for some of us, they enabled us to sleep there so we could take the train the next morning to go home. And luckily enough, Gwen stayed all night with me. We danced all night and ended up sleeping next to one another.

Next morning, we woke-up quite early because Morgane's grand-father had to give back the keys to the ball room to the city hall. Morgane and I had to go to Paris because, as her birthday gift, I had invited her to a musical in Paris titled "Dracula: l'Amour plus fort que la Mort".

We spent an awesome day and I realized that I might have finally moved on so it is with a huge smile that I went back home and enjoyed a real goodnight sleep, the one I've been needing for months.
