Today at maths class I had a small encounter with a girl that's been in at least one of my classes each year-brook. She is really pretty, any boy would die for her! She has had a number of boyfriends in the past, lucky boys. I do like her, but I don't exactly have a crush on her and I don't think I'd ever ask her out. Unless she showed signs she wanted me to. Anyway today she was really different towards me in class, she actually showed interest in me. She kept looking around the room for someone which I think would actually be me as when ever she saw me that's where her eyes paused. She actually flirted a little. After class she was a little clumsy though. But she kept smiling at me, like all the time.

I make my way across the cafeteria bench collecting a tray and placing food onto it.

"hey babe!" charlotte cleveland, my girlfriend comes running up to me. "how about we sit over at Erin's table today?"

"yeah sure, babe." I say. Picking up a caramel slice and apple. "Sweet special today huh?"

"yes." she says hugging my arm.

Once both Charlotte and I have got food we make our way to the table.

"ohhhhh." Erin randomly says. Then someone's eyes meet mine. Brooklyn. She seems to gasp when she sees me. I take the spare seat next to Toby and pull a chair over for charlotte to sit, my eyes still locked on brook.

"so how are you Seth?" Erin says repeatedly looking at brook than back to me whilst raising her eyebrows.

"sweet." I reply against the small amount of awkward silence.

"great!" she says smiling. I see brooks face blush with embarrassment.

"are you okay brook?" I ask in my gentlemen voice.

"u-uh y-yes." I hear her stutter in response.

I laugh a little-I know that laughing is a bit mean since she was stuttering cause she was nervous and i should be comforting not rude towards her.

"umm." I comb my fingers through my hair, to put it into place, not knowing what to say.

"so whatcha guys been up to?" Erin seems to be focused on me. Her glistening eyes boring into me and a cheeky smile on her lips. "anything exciting?" she asks obviously flirting as she glides her finger along her perfect, red, puffy lips.

"yeah." I say looking down at the table. I don't like girls who are easy to get, I like a challenge-girls who are hard to get. Erin could get any boy with her magic ways. But not me. I like her but wouldn't date her.

I hear Charlotte chuckle a little, probably hoping that I haven't made Erin upset, by lighting the mood. Erin just glares at me, not in a mean way but I guess disappointed that I answered in the opposite way she wanted me to. Erin suddenly stops flirting and remembers she has a boyfriend.

"oh, I love you Tyler!" she exclaims randomly, and gives him a perfect kiss on his lips. Her lips have probably been planted on a whole lot of other dirty, gross boys.

"oh I love you." Tyler replies through the short amount of time he has before kissing Erin again. I look away, completely grossed out.

"you guys!" I throw a comment at Erin and Tyler. I see them both smile a little through their long, crazy make out. I see brook, again, shade a different colour of pink. Is she embarrassed in front of me? Maybe she likes what she sees.

"mmmmmmmm." Toby responds to his salad sandwich which looks, I've got to be honest, quite delicious. I briefly hear Erin's conversation with brook, charlotte and decide to chat to Toby and Tyler.

"here are some notes for you to take home about-" mrs carasell's voice trails off.

"hey." brody, my best bud, nudges my arm. "formal, what you wearing?"

I snap back to reality and realise the note is about formal. "ummm I don't know yet, but I'll think about it." I reply. "so who you taking to formal?" I ask.

"oh, I was thinking about asking Alyse." he says back.

My expression turns from curious to completely confused. I thought Alyse was an ugly nerd.

"what? Did I hear you properly?" I ask still whispering.

"Seth! Stop talking or you'll have to stay in after school ends in about 2minutes! So unless you want to stay in after school I would suggest you stop right now!" she says suddenly changing from incredibly sweet to roaring like a lion.

"okay, miss I mean mrs." I say pretending to cough as she is pretty ugly. The class chuckles.

When I see Alyse turn around and glance at brody I see why he wants her to go with him to formal. She is so pretty and her personality has obviously changed. I wonder who prompted her to do this, who ever it is, I'm proud of, especially cause my best friend has got a date to formal.
