"I apologize, my name is Elijah, I am not going to hurt you." He assured me as he walked towards me. I stole a glance behind me but there was no place for me to run even if I wasn't restrained.
When he reached the podium, he leaned down towards me and I flinched. But I never felt his touch. There was a clank, my eyes shot to where the noise sounded to see Elijah's hands undoing the clamp around my ankle. I glanced from the chain to his face, his face was gentle with strong cheekbones and and stunning brown eyes, almost seeming completely black.
He stepped back and sighed, eyes still on me. "Guards, take her back to her chambers" he called calmly and the large men stepped forward from in the shadows against the wall. I had forgotten they were there, I hadn't even heard them breathing. I glanced at the two burly men as they strode towards where I sat and then back to Elijah, I could tell that he saw the fear in my face because he added "And don't lay a hand on her. I could not possibly imagine Maveric would be pleased if she was hurt before he could even introduce himself." The guards both mumbled a low and throaty "Yes sir" before moving behind me
I was too focused on what the man, Elijah, had said, before he could even introduce himself. His statement could mean two things, the first was that him roaming his fingers around my mouth wasn't the formal introduction or second was that he wanted to be the one to hurt me. I shivered, not sure which one would be worse.
With the absence of touch from either of the men, we arrived back at my cell. I walked into the middle and the heavy door slammed shut, causing me to jump. I listened to the footsteps until they died away to nothing.
"You alright, love?" Demetrius spoke up. I wondered if he was at the edge of his cage but I couldn't move my eyes away from staring at the dirty stone floor beneath me.
"I think so" I whispered.
