The sounds of Major Lazer's 'Roll The Bass' resonated from under my pillow, straight into my ear and I instantly shot up and fell off the bed.
Fml.
I glanced at my phone's screen and a sinister smile crept onto my face. Today was the day the scores would be settled. Today was the day karma would strike. Today was the day I'd taste sweet, sweet revenge.
It was already 6:15 a.m. so I grabbed the potato from the bedside table and scrambled out the door. With extreme stealth I crept down the hallway until I tripped over my own foot and tumbled down a few steps.
Damn you coordination! One day I will master you!
And that day was certainly not today.
As I passed by Derek's apartment, the first stage of my plan was now in motion. I took out the piece of paper from my pocket and quickly stuck it on his door. I snickered and tried my best not to burst out laughing at the sight.
Well done, Cassie. Phase one: complete.
Outside the sun was now rising and the sky was covered in hues of orange and yellow. My eyes drifted across the grassy area to where the building owner decided to use the space for a miniature garden and became alight with delight. I collected a few rocks and filled it in the bag with the potato. The little bit of sunlight helped me locate what I was looking for as I scanned the car park.
My eyes fell on the sleek black car and I contemplated whether I should go through with this.
Oh, who the hell was I kidding. I didn't spend all that time thinking of the perfect plan only to end up not executing it.
Looking around, I ensured no one was around before I embarked on the second stage of my master plan. The streets were quiet, thank God and I didn't have to worry about getting caught by Derek because he was such a sleepy head. An image of his face pressed against my pillow, eyes closed, mouth slightly parted, emitting the sexiest snoring sounds I ever heard popped into my mind. And don't get me started on his morning voice. That alone could make the driest desert flood.
Not only the desert, the voice in my heard added.
Oh shush. As if by command, my skin became flushed with heat and there was a hitch in my breathing. What the hell was happening to me?
Focus, Cassie. Focus!
I shook my arms out to rid myself of the emotions overwhelming my body and concentrated on the task at hand. I bent down behind his car a short distance away and began throwing the stones directly into the muffler. I missed on my first attempt. And my second. And my third. And every one after that.
"Fuck!" I groaned angrily. First it was coordination and now it was aiming. This plan was way out of my league and harder to execute than I thought. So much for dreaming big.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes and the memory of Derek's body pressed up against that street slut popped into my mind. I felt my hands fisting at my sides and my eyes bolted open with a fiery rage. I pelted the rocks, one after the next, perfectly into the muffler, until about fifteen were lodged right up in there. I took a step back, admiring my work before shoving the potato straight in, locking everything in place.
"Heh heh heh," I laughed evilly, feeling excitement burning inside me.
I cleaned up all the evidence, crept silently back to my room and slipped between my sheets before anyone could spot me. Glancing at my watch, it was only minutes to seven, so I did what any sleepaholic would do. I pulled my blanket over my head and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was instantly dead to the world.
