Beep! Beep!

Oh, how I hate mornings and alarms I thought as I smacked the snooze button on the clock. Just five more minutes. Five more minutes of imaginary talking chocolate chip cookies.

Realization hit me like a truck. Today was Wednesday. I had an exam today. My eyes instantly flew open, and with an unreal speed, I managed to change and get out the door of my double apartment, shared with my best friend, in a record time of 10 minutes. Of course, with a blueberry waffle halfway stuffed in my mouth. Nothing is too important to miss a meal over.

"Hey beautiful lady," spoke a husky voice from my right as I speed walked down the corridors of my dorm.

With an eye roll I groaned, "Leave me alone, Parker," and began walking faster.

"Oh come on, Cassie. Can you just stop for two seconds and talk to me?" This came from Derek Parker. Ever a persistent soul, determined to initiate any kind of relation with me. If only he knew that I could never give him what he really wanted. What he doesn't know wouldn't kill him, right?

I spun around to face Derek and he almost crashed into my face, "One, two," I said as I held up one, then two fingers, "So to answer your question, yes, I can stop for two seconds." Turning on my heel I continued towards my class, glancing at my watch, my exam was in ten minutes.

Sprinting down the steps, two at a time and into the building, this idiot still followed me. I could hear his frustration and heavy footsteps pounding on the stairs behind me. Couldn't he take a hint for heaven's sake?

"What part of 'leave me alone' can't you understand with that pea-sized brain of yours?"

"Hmm, none of those words make any sense. Maybe you can come over later and explain it to me," he smirked as I tried to catch my breath outside my class. Wow, I was seriously unfit!

Reaching over, he pushed my sweaty bangs off my forehead and I snapped, "Do not ever touch me," although I honestly wanted quite the opposite. My skin burned from the slight contact but with my vagina's oh-so-perfect track record, I highly doubted anything good would have resulted from that. Oh well, Cherry would live.

"Goodbye Parker," I sighed and pushed through the double doors and into my doom.

"Hello Miss Stevens. Glad to see you could grace us with your presence today. Take a seat quickly because we start in two minutes," spoke my Chemistry professor, Mr. Jacobs, a slim man with salt and pepper hair, glasses perched on the bridge of his nose and the ability to tower over everyone in his class.

"Yes, Sir," I mock saluted him but he just watched me unamused.

The following 120 minutes went by too quickly as I scribbled, struggled and scraped every last bit of knowledge I had and wrote it on that paper. I mean, Chemistry was my passion but damn! That was tough. A few more exams and freedom, here I come!

Handing in my script to Mr. Jacobs, I left the room in need of food. My brain was fried to a crisp and the little nutrients in that waffle were long gone and used up by my body. My poor tummy was sorely deprived this morning I thought, as I patted my stomach.

As soon as I stepped one foot out the door a voice I knew too well stopped me, "Hey darling, how was it?" Of course. Derek was sitting just outside the room, armed and ready to prevent me from having a peaceful day. I had to admit though, there was a slight flutter in my chest as I thought of him waiting here for me to finish. How sweet. It was good to know chivalry wasn't completely dead.

"Why do you keep following me?" I groaned, trying to out-walk him. Sometimes he was a pain, but inside, deep deep deep deep down, I think I enjoyed his company and corny sense of humour.
