James POV

I've been away from Idina for two weeks. It's been really hard not seeing her beautiful face. All I want is to go home. I had to travel to California to see my dad. He wasn't doing well and was in the hospital. I've been there everyday for him, but I haven't for Idina. I'm breaking my promise.

Idina POV

James has been gone. It feels like I haven't seen him in so long. I can't stand it. I just want him to come back. I've been so paranoid because of Taye. He left me alone after the divorce, but he's so distraught from not being able to see Walker. I have full custody and he barely gets to see him. Every now and then, he comes by. It's either a fight that breaks out or something worse. He doesn't drink, but he hasn't gotten over me.

It felt so empty in the house and at the theatre without James...my heart hurt.

James POV

I woke up and could barely see anything. It was pitch black in the hospital room, except for one light. I could see it through my duffle bag. I rubbed my eyes, stretched, and walked over to it. I pressed the home button and I had ten missed calls from Idina. I called her as fast as I could.

"Come on! Pick up!"

I sat down and waited, bouncing my knee.

I called sixteen times and still no answer. I was pacing around the room trying to get a hold of her.

She finally answered.

I heard a quiet whisper come from the other end.

"James?"

"Idina! Jesus. Are you ok? What's going on?"

She was whimpering and I could hear heavy breathing.

"No! I'm hiding in my room.  Taye is at the door. I told him to leave, but he won't listen. He just keeps saying, "I need to talk to you about Walker." He's threatening to break in. Thank god Walker's not here."

"I'm so sorry I'm not there. Lock everything and stay in the room. I'm booking a flight back to New York right now." I said. I booked it and started packing while still on the phone.

"James, your father isn't doing well. Stay there. I'm not taking you away from your family. They need you." She said.

"You're my family and you need me."

I could hear her crying from the other end. All I wanted to do was hold her and tell her it would be ok.

"Idina?"

"Yeah?" She said trying to hold her sobs back.

"I love you." I said

"I lo-"

That's all I heard before the call abruptly ended.
