Clover
Clover ignored his mother’s whispers of disapproval for saving the kid; he ignored the cold breeze sweeping around him; he ignored the urge to force everyone around into the street to be run over. He ignored them because he could; the realization that it was all in his head didn’t make the urge to follow his pleading mother’s orders any less commanding. Clover stared at the ground wondering if he just stopped using his powers if she’d go away entirely.
The villain returned home with his parents still on his mind. Phantom was what his father called a stage name, it was his stage name. Clover shook his head and flopped down on the couch only then noticing the object on the coffee table. His mother’s mask smiled at him with its sparkling white teeth, just begging to be worn.
The images of his victims surfaced then standing perfectly still like the good sacrifices that they were. The living room was full of them staring off into space. Eyes glossed over and dead, some with moths slightly open. Clover sunk farther into the couch hoping that if he ignored them they would go away.
They didn’t, their silence stretched on as the seconds ticked by, disconnecting time altogether. The villain brought his knees up to his chest and buried his face in his folded up arms. He whimpered.
“Go away, I’m sorry.” He’s pleas were met with more silence but he could feel them in the room with him, standing like statues, he heard them breathing he felt the presence of life. No, it wasn’t life none of these people had beating hearts; he’d taken that simple right from them, so many of them. He’d ripped apart their families and destroyed happy lives.
“Clover…I want to show you something…But I want you to play for me, just once I’ve never heard you play…Clover please?” The smooth motherly voice drawled.
Clover ignored the voice he wouldn’t let her get to him this time, no. “Clover, I’ll only ask nicely once.” She cooed he felt her breath against his neck. It was light the autumn air had found its way into his body chilling it to the core. Clover took a shaky breath and stood up, they sacrifices didn’t react to him they never did.
Vast
The sky grew cloudy as the storm grew over head. The city bustled to get inside before the sun set it was always safer to be in the comfort of your home and away from any potential dangers that roamed the dark streets. Vast just happened to be one of those dangers; he refrained from hurting others when he could help it. He didn’t have a problem killing others he just hated hiding the body and Clover always said Vast was easy to push off the edge.
Vast watched the security guards as they made their rounds, searching for anything out of the ordinary, like Vast hiding in the shadows, though under paid security guards did an awful job. Vast would show Clover that he didn’t need him to watch his back, he could work alone. It would be easy without him, Vast would be less distracted by Clover silently walking behind him, or so he hoped.
He couldn’t see this not working out, but then again he always had bad luck when he wondered off on his own. He blamed himself for it for Clover’s mother’s death, he’d been told earlier in the day the horse was acting weird and to let Clover’s mother deal with it but he didn’t listen.
He was tossed from the horse, and his father wasn’t too pleased when he broke his arm. Vast figured if he hadn’t gotten hurt his father wouldn’t have burned the barn down. Vast shook the dark thoughts from his head and leaned forward catching a glimpse of something out of place.
The guards glanced over towards the disturbance as well, Vast wasn’t seeing things. The villain watched as a large black dog slunk along the shadows. The guard saw it too stepping forward, Vast rolled his eyes at the man’s brave stupidity.
