The Detective of the Dead

Hexed Detective

  A cold rainy morning, I'm sipping a warm lavender tea with Veronica. She is eating her breakfast with me on my dorm. A small lizard fell on my cup. I get it with my left hand.

"A lizard on your cup?" Penelope asked.

"It fell from the ceiling. This must be a bad omen."

"You should be careful."

I let go the lizard and sticks it on the wall near me. "Beware of the water, little fella."

"So you like small lizards?"

"No. Not really, I actually love cats."

"What kind of cat?"

"Short-haired cat. Why are asking that? Do you want to give me a cat?"

"No." she chuckled.

We get out early to get a ride in a cab.A cab with passenger splashed me with muddy water.

"Damn it! Did it splashed you to, Veronica?"

"Yes, unfortunately we need to change in your dorm."

We get in and do what we planned. We washed ourselves quickly. She borrowed some clothes from me, clothes that I used in my undercover. Of course, female clothes that I don't want to wear again.Now we are late when we arrived at the office.

"Hey, I am going to Penelope to help her. Wanna go with me?"

"No, Penelope don't want to see me."

"Oh, I forgot about that. Okay. Good luck to the cases."Veronica went to the stairs quickly. Inspector Quincy, my dad, shouted when he saw me.

"Junior Detective Quincy! You are so late!"

"Uhm..."

Inspector Nickels scolded me and asked an awkward question.

"What did you do with Veronica last night?"All of the policemen laughed.

What? Of course, we slept together. I can't watch midnight shows because I don't want to stay awake all night. It seems I am accused and my dad is the good cop and Inspector Nickels is the bad cop.

I just chukled. "Ha... Hah... "

Good thing that I am not impatient and I have a steady mood today. Sigh... When I got home alone, I was shocked when I saw my messy room. I screamed with anger. The landlady fixing it.

"Some men came here and forced into your room." she cried with tears.

"It is fine. It is not your fault." I replied with comforting tone. "Just rest for a while, I'm going to fix this alone."

I lit some lavender incense, played Piano Concerto No. 23 by Mozart in my gramophone and I fix my room all night. I also carried my small amethyst crystal to calm myself and to clear my mind. After that, I search for my small crystal orb to see what's happening to me. I set it up to a circular table. Put it with table cloth with Egyptian design and I put amethyst stone for intuition. It is normal to have one or two misfortunes a day but I have big four misfortunes today. I find it hard to see it with my intuition because it seems that something blocks my clairvoyance. I just see the familiar silhouette or shadow of a man. I program my crystal orb to give simple clues for me.

"Crystal orb, give me clues about this man who gave me bad luck spell."

A word from a book appeared from my crystal orb.

"Someone..." it said.

I saw a word on a pamphlet."is..."

Then on the newspaper."sabotage..."

Then I saw an image of an American without caption. Then I saw an actor on stage in his dark wizard outfit."It means that someone is sabotaging me!" I thought to myself."I deduced that the caster is a warlock!" 

 I stand quickly from my table to get my spell book and red quill pen behind my self portrait painting. I grabbed some round white stone. I seek magic runes or Teutonic alphabet on my spell book. I dipped my red quill pen to black ink and I draw a 'return ill-will to the originator' rune on the stone. After the stone dries from the ink, I blessed it with four elements so the charm will not fail or backfire to me.I dipped it to the saltwater. 

"With Earth and Water, I bless this charm to serve me." 

 I lit sandalwood incense and smoked with it. 

"With Air and Fire, I bless this charm to serve me." 

 Voila! I feel protected from any weak hex. The charmed stone broke a little without physical reason. 

"Uh... That hex wasn't that weak." 

 I hid it to my pocket on my chest.I find another remedy on my secret compartment behind my self portrait painting and I saw silver bangle with black tourmaline. 

 "Oh! Black tourmaline stone is effective against hex and negative energy."I wear it on my left hand (because I'm left handed) and covered it with my sleeve.
