"And just like a typical fairytale or fantasy story, they lived happily ever after."

She left a damp, sunken trail as she walked. Her feet scuffed the earth and her tail followed sleepily behind her. The reptile's body was coated in purple and red, like messy paint. Without even a breath, Fotiá collapsed among the fallen leaves.

Prince rescues Princess, Prince rescues Princess. All the time. Every story had a Prince and his Princess. He would save her from great peril, whether that be a witch, bad parents, or a dragon. Oh, the joys of being her! Wounded, unloved, dying amongst the plants whilst some perfect, frilly, pastel princess relaxed with a sword-fighting boyfriend.

The forest was surrounded in the gold of sunset when the dragon woke. Pink-haired and well-robed, Nala tensed at the movement. She stared, transfixed by it's movement. They tensed as well. The lizard was struggling to move, like it had been chained for all their life. She crept closer, careful to be unseen by them.

The most beautiful wings protruded from her back, but they were limp and bleeding. It brought tears to Nala's bright eyes. She inhaled, louder than was safe.

"Who-"
And at that moment, they saw each other's souls. Fotiá froze, mesmerised by the hypnotic purple crystals with a glint and a shimmer of hope. Those violet lights were searching the ambery-greenish ones of this injured creature, looking for any emotion other then-broken.

"W-what-" the dragon was speechless.
"It's okay I won't hurt you-" her soothing was interrupted by the bawling of an already panicked girl. "I-I promise it's alright. Can you stand? Hey, well done!" Nala looked at this beautiful thing. Beautiful, yes, but no way easy enough to carry back to her herd.
