"Scarlett! Wake up!" I hear a voice screech into my ear.

"What, what? I'm up I'm up," I say in my confused still waking up state. I sit up to see my mother staring at me tapping her foot in a hurry up we need to get moving way.

I heard a crashing and banging sound coming from the hallway. That made me jump up from my makeshift bed and grabbing my bag, slinging it over my shoulder.

"Mom what the heck is that?" I whisper to her as a series of bangs comes toward the small closet under the main staircase, where me and her were standing.

I see her gulp and turn toward me saying,"Doesn't matter, we gotta run like the wind though," the banging sounds closer to the closet now. I gulp whatever it is it isn't after her it's after me.

- hold up hold up. Before we go any farther let's rewind to first why the heck we're in a closet under the stairs and why those series of bangs are after me. Well my mother when she was young kinda went on a stealing spree so that got her wanted in some areas. Then she was hanging out with her friends one day when the house got broken into and the burglar/killer killed everyone except her. The cops blamed her and suddenly the name Marie Winter Brooke was printed on every newspaper everywhere. The reason those scary bangs were after me was because well I'm a demigod. Anyways back to the story-

Then the door is ripped from the wall and then is laying on the ground in front of me. We both just kinda stare at the door before looking at each other and bolting past the thing standing on the other side of the door.

My mom is running ahead of me at a much faster pace when we get outside of the old abandoned building. I hear screeches and screaming as we run and I can only think about how angry it will be when it finds us.
