[CHAPTER 10:] as single as a single person

Rain.

The sound that Lara loved but hated. She has always loved the sound of light tapping on a surface, but hated the thought of being out there in the rain. She loved the way it would make a soft sound that would help her get to sleep, and hated how it could change someone, or something for that matter.

Lara laid in bed, her head resting against Chris' chest, as she listened to his steady heartbeat and soft snores. She started humming the song La Vie en Rose as she lightly patted her thigh with her hand.

The boys decided to stay the night and just sleep in the girls' rooms, even though the real reason was, they didn't wanna get soaked in rain water.

The rain was getting stronger and stronger by the second, and a couple minutes later, there was so much thunder and lightning. The loud clap of the thunder interrupted Lara's humming, as Chris flinched when he heard it.

Lara smiled.

He's scared of thunder.

Her phone vibrated and she turned to face the other side and got her phone. She turned it on and squinted as the bright light hit her face.

Parker: LARAAAAAAA

Lara: um... hi?

Parker: You're still awake right?

Lara: no, I'm actually sleeping right now -_-

Parker: whatever is Chris still awake? Can you wake him up if he's asleep?

Lara: whyyyy

Parker: and go to the gaming room after

Lara: hnng okay

"Chris, wake up," Lara said, poking his cheek.

Chris shifted and grunted.

Lara poked his cheek again. "Chris. Chris Chris Chris Chris Chris," she repeated.

His eyes fluttered open and he jumped away from me. "What am I doing here?"

"It was raining, remember?"

"Oh yeah... Why were you waking me up?" He asked, cracking his fingers.

"I don't know with Parker. But let's go to the gaming room."

"Uh... okay?"

We both stood up and Chris stretched his back. "Hey um Chris? C-Can you like- um... C-Can you put on a shirt?" I asked, looking away from him.

"Why? Is my body too distracting for you?" He smirked and I glared at him. "Fine," he chuckled, getting his shirt from the floor.

We walked down the stairs, went to the gaming room, and saw Angelo and Parker playing Mario Kart on the floor, and Martina and Bryan flirting and playing footsie on the sofa.

Angelo jerked his head to our direction and quickly looked back at the screen. "Okay, Angelo. What do you want?"

"Lara, how do you turn on your DVD player?"

"Why didn't you ask Martina?" Lara asked, placing her hand on her waist.

"She's too busy eating Bryan's face off," Angelo said, laughing.
