Chapter Seven
The next day I didn't wake up until the afternoon. I supposed my body knew that it would be having a long night tonight, what with Yoongi taking me to the studio for the first time.
I was insanely excited to finally get to hear him rap. For some reason, it seemed like rapping just fit him, and I was willing to bet that he was unbelievably amazing.
In the time that I had to wait, I didn't really have much to do. The café was closed on Sundays and my apartment was completely clean.
"What to do . . ." I muttered aloud. Suddenly, an idea struck me. I grabbed my phone and quickly dialed the number.
"Hello?" Amanda answered.
"Hey, it's Hyorin."
"Oh, hi! Why are you calling?" she asked.
"Well, I don't really have anything to do and I was wondering if you wanted to hang out for a while."
"I'd love to!" she practically shouted into the phone. Well, I could certainly see why her and her boyfriend got along so well.
Twenty minutes later, Amanda showed up at my apartment with a box of doughnuts.
"I thought I'd bring something over while on the way," she glanced down at the box in her hands. "This happened."
I laughed and opened the door wider for her, allowing her room to step inside. She walked into my small apartment and looked around the cramped space.
"For some reason, I didn't expect your place to look like this. No offense," she said. I shrugged.
"Well, I come from a pretty well-to-do family down in Busan, so this has definitely been a transition for me. But I'm content," I told her, leading her into the living room toward the coffee table, where she put her box.
Amanda just hummed in reply and made herself comfortable on my couch. "So, what did you want to do?"
I shrugged again, rubbing the back of my neck. "I don't really know . . . I didn't think that far ahead. I guess I just need to fill space between now and later, and I figured it would be a good idea to get to know you better."
She raised an eyebrow. "Later? What's happening later? Don't tell me you've hired a prostitute."
"Amanda!" I shouted at her, appalled. She just laughed it off. When she calmed down, I told her what had happened with Yoongi the day before.
"Wait, so let me get this straight. You went out last night with your coworkers, got totally plastered, ran into Yoongi, and he asked you to go out with him?"
I sighed. "He didn't ask me out, he just asked me if I wanted to go to the studio with him tonight."
Amanda gave me an odd look. "So basically, he asked you out."
"He didn't."
"Ah, but he did," she said, leaning closer to me, a smile on her face. "You see, I've known Yoongi for over a year now, and I would say I've gotten to know him pretty well. He's not very social, as you probably know. He's never even asked Tae to listen to him rap before."
I frowned. "So?"
"So," she said, rolling her eyes. "He must really like you, Hyorin."
Butterflies churned in my stomach. Did he really?
I must have been blushing, because Amanda chuckled and said, "Wow, you got really red."
A moment of silence passed between us as I tried to calm myself down. Amanda watched me with interest. Suddenly, she said, "I was right. You do like him."
