I could tell you about an awful case of writer's block, then getting sick to the nth degree, but those are all excuses. I'm really sorry for not having uploaded till now. Which is why I've cut this bit short and decided on putting a Part Four as well.
Max
Stupid!
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
And then – Oh, God! What did I just do?
I don’t know what happened after that exactly, but I found myself down on the pavement, the card close to my knee, the bear an arm’s length away. It-I’d dropped it in a way that made it lie on its side, so that it would have been asleep, except for its huge, brown, unblinking eyes staring right at me.
Accusing me.
Look at what you’ve done, Max. You managed to drive off Nick after everything he did for you. You hurt him!
“Shut up.”
He hated you with everything he was, do you have any idea how hard it must have been to set that aside? To forgive you, to come to you, stay with you when you wanted to be alone?
“Shut up!”
A familiar sensation swept over my being. My throat was suddenly dry, constricted, and a prickling in my eyes, one I was all too used to, started.
No, Max, you’re not going to cry! This isn’t something to cry about, stop it!
And then, it was laughing.
Look at you, Max. Just look.
Pathetic.
“I am not pathetic!”
Within moments I was on my feet with it, the bear, pinned against the wall with my grip being around its neck.
“I am not pathetic, you hear me?” I think I was growling, “And just you watch, you-I’m going to fix all of this. I’ll fix this mess and you’ll just see!”
Really, Max? Arguing with an inanimate teddy bear?
It was like someone had hit me…hard. I took a step backwards, still holding onto the bear, and…Oh, God! What is wrong with me?
I needed to stop.
I needed to breathe.
I needed to calm down.
I needed to fix what I’d done.
Right, and how are you going to do that?
“Shut up!”

“Max?”
I whirled around in surprise.
“Mum! Mum…hey. Hi.” I let him fall to the ground involuntarily.
Mum frowned slightly. “Max, what’s going on?” She said it slowly, cautiously. “And what is that?”
She knelt down to retrieve him.
“Oh, uh, yeah, that’s a teddy bear.” I stated.
“I can see that, Max. Where’d you get it from?”
She was holding him, brushing the dirt off his fur.
He was looking at me with that smug expression.
“Jake, uh, he and the rest they-they sent it, as a way of apology.” Damn it, Max! You don’t need to get her worried!
Mum’s surprise was evident. “Jake?”
