Under suspicion

Chapter 14

Carlos and Grace get into the car. They drive on a journey for several minutes toward the cafe that Carlos and Grace originally met in.

When they arrive Grace stares at the cafe remembering the first time that she met Carlos before the lies and deception took place.

She shook her head wildly trying to get a grip on the situation because the situation she is in is now more dangerous than ever.

Carlos smiles at Grace nervously. "Are you ready to go?."

Grace swallows nervously. "Honestly?, No I'm not."

He smiles at her partly trying to reassure her and reassure himself. "It'll be okay.. I promise."

Grace grins "Do you believe it will?."

Carlos shrugs "I certainly hope so.. But right now hope is all we have right?."

Grace nodded. "That's true I guess."

They exited the car togther and walked into the cafe.

A few moments later Jason Ridley and Angela Rivers walked into the cafe.

Jason spotted Grace and Carlos sitting at the table at the back of the cafe.

Jason grins at Carlos.

Carlos growls angrily gripping his fist. "I don't know who you think you're smirking at but in this current situation this is not a joke."

Jason laughs holding up his hands. "Calm down Carlos.. It was just a joke."

Grace frowns confused. "Sorry am I missing something here?."

Angela sighs. "I'm sorry Carlos.. I tried to stop them."

Jason looked at Angela. "Nobody could have foreseen this situation happening."

Carlos tuts sarcastically. "Really?.. Here's me thinking you planned this all along."

Grace growls frustratingly "Will someone tell me what's going on?."

Carlos gives Jason a look. "Tell her the truth.. She deserves to know."

Jason nodded "I'm afraid this is true.. Me and the boys at the Nick planned this all along.."

Jason sighed. "Carlos hadn't had a girlfriend for a while so we decided to cheer him up a bit."

Carlos grits his teeth. "You had no right.. And now Grace is in danger."

Angela frowned. "In danger how?."

Carlos blinked "Remember that mob boss case I've been working undercover for?."

Angela and Jason nodded. "Yeah?."

Carlos bit his lip holding Grace's hand. "The mob boss followed Grace from my flat and now he wants to meet her."

Angela gasps looking at Jason. "This is all your fault!".

Jason held his hands up innocently. "I didn't know Carlos was gonna fall in love with the girl or the mob boss finding out about her did I?."

Angela groans "But this is people's lives we are talking about!."

Grace growled at Jason's comment. "The girl am I?.. I have a name and I demand an apology."

Carlos tuts. "Give the girl an apology and then you can figure out how the heck we are gonna get out of this stupid
Mess you created."

Jason shakes his head. "Why is it always me?."

Angela gives him a scornful look.

Jason sighs looking at Grace. "I'm sorry for trying to put a bit of love into your life and I'm sorry for putting you in danger."

Grace blinks looking at Carlos. "You call that an apology?."

Carlos shrugs. "Knowing Jason.. That's the best your gonna get."
