Anakah never thought she'd ever have to leave this town. It's really the last thing she would have ever had on her mind. She knew it was coming though.
Her father couldn't commute three hours each day for work forever. And she knew that. But she was an expert at denying it.
At school she would forget the for sale sign on her front door and in her free time spend every minute at her friends to forget the talk of packing and getting rid of the old things in her closet.
But the time came and she couldn't deny it any longer.
Her family called for a meeting after school and this time Anakah couldn't escape it. They met in the family room. Her sister, Catie, had sat down next to her on the sofa and her parents sat across from them holding hands with smiles on their faces.
"We sold the house!" Anakah's parents had exclaimed, their faces bright.
Catie was excited for the move. She had jumped up excitedly and immediately started to make plans with her parents.
Anakah's heart sank. No. No, no, no. She had thought.
Her parents said they would leave that summer. Only a month away. A month to say goodbye to everything she had known.
Smiles and grins lit up the room. Her family was happy but Anakah wasn't.
And no one noticed she didn't say a word.
