Once they had reached the middle school Catie said a quick goodbye to Anakah and skipped excitedly to the entrance. Anakah watched her sister with a nostalgic feeling in her chest. She wished for her middle school days to come back so she could be home with her friends. So she could feel that same excitement. She felt a pang in her chest as she was reminded that her friends no longer speak to her anyways. She readjusted her bag on her shoulder and shook away those thoughts as she walked away.
When Anakah reached the high school her steps faltered as she observed her fellow students entering the building. Each student seemed to have a smile on their face as they chattered with friends. They discussed class schedules and their summer breaks. Anakah couldn't help but hope for her own friends to talk to and gather with before the bell rings, but she knew it would never happen. She knew she couldn't. Her walls were built too high and her fear was too great. She preferred being alone to giving the universe another opportunity to take everything away.
Eventually Anakah realized she had just been standing there for too long. She entered the building and prepared herself for the inevitable social interaction.
