The flat and Alex's thoughts

Rolling over in bed, Alex frowned to see the time on her alarm clock. 9:06.

Just like her watch. Not the best night's sleep she'd had. Crappy mattress.

Getting up, she went to the window and saw the sun peeking thought the white clouds.

No messages from home. Not even a dream. It had all gone quiet and she felt ashamed to admit that her disappointment was tinged with relief. It was nice to feel normal, for once. Not have to worry about life back in the normal days.

She looked back around the room, grimacing at the wallpaper and the little kitchen, if you can call it that. She didn't even want to think about the bathroom.

If she was going to be in this time permanently, she'd have to find another place. And fast.
One that was her own. Maybe she'd stumble across another Italian, renting a flat above, that'd be nice.

Going to the mirror, she ran a hand through her hair, accustoming herself to the style and to her make-up.
Best do a bit of early shopping before heading into work. She couldn't wear the same outfit her whole life.
Food she needs food as well.

Gene had given her enough money to buy a median sized flat by the looks of things. She hoped he'd accept the money back, even if it was in small instalments.

New dawn, new day, new life. It was strange how quickly she was accepting it here.

Sam was a reassuring presence and Gene well, he was being Gene. The Guv. And she didn't want to think about how good it felt to be under his wing again.
