It was a Monday. The worst possible day for me, the girl who was unnoticed by everyone! I opened my cornflower doe eyes and stood up to my full height of 5'6.
I lived in a gigantic mansion with my workaholic mom, my dad who is cheating on her all the time and our comic relief maid, Ida. Oh, and don't forget my twin sister who is soooo popular, it would make Regina George look like a nerd.
My eyes found my full length mirror that showed a reflection of the most average girl ever! Aka, me!
My poker straight bleached blonde hair cascaded down to my lower back, shielding my tiny frame from danger, because remember all young adult protagonists must be skinner than all hell but totally not anorexic. My complexion was a mixture of cream and honey, something I had inherited from my mother who was toats gorg. The button nose was another one of my hideous features! Why did I have to look like this! Blonde, perfect skin, nice body, long glamorous nails... and the dorky black rim glasses that looked like they belonged to a hipster. I sighed and went into my adjoined bathroom.
Hastily, I stripped out of my pajamas that were of the finest silks and hopped into the shower that held different options for the perfect shower. After I was finished, I put my pink coral tower around my body and stared into the mirror once again. I stare into mirrors so much that it would almost seem narcissistic but I'm totally not.
I hurried with putting on makeup though I was always told I didn't need any, which was not true because I'm so ugly, and quickly trotted off to school in my Porsche that my father gave me in exchange for not telling my mom that he was cheating on her with another one of his skanks but whatever! I have a Porsche!
The traffic was mild and I arrived to school on time where my only friends stood waiting for me because I pretty much ruled them.
The first one was my beautiful bestie, Alex, who was a total rebel but also super pretty. Her hair was black and her eyes shone like blue diamonds, she reminded me of a younger Megan Fox, again she had no skin problems or anything wrong with her.
Next was my homosexual best friend, Ryan who was a hoot to listen to! He was tan, had a six pack, and had bleached blonde hair like me! He was also the stereotypical man who was gay and wore pink. Pink polo and pink shorts.
Last but not least stood my nerdy best friend, Erik who I'd known since I was in my mother's womb... so like forever. He was totally hot but nerdy and always whispered I love you to me but I think he only meant it in a friend way.
So, I prodded out of my gray car and welcomed my best friends. They smiled at me as if I were royalty. (Which I might be if you read further on!)
"Hey, Veronica! Where is your evil twin, Victoria?" Asked Alex in her no care attitude.
"Like I care." I answered back as we walked into the huge brick school that had no more than 100 students. I live in a small town and I only moved here like a week ago from California where I was super popular and Erik used to go there but he moved to Spoons, (that's the town name,) and here I am.
"She's probably snogging with Henry, the British exchange student." Ryan piped in as he drank his apple martini.
"He is so hot." Alex said. I flushed pink because why not?
"Yeah, but he'd never go for a girl like me. I'm so ugly."
"No you're not!"
"You're so beautiful!"
But Erik didn't say anything. I was hurt that my loyal male companion wouldn't even give me compliments, it wasn't like I did this daily or something. God, was I that hideous?
Alex and Ryan jogged into their first class while Erik and I went to English, our first class. Finally, he spoke.
"You're not ugly."
"Omg, yes I am, Erik. No wonder no boys want to go out with me."
"I want to go out with you."
"As a friend right?" Duh, that's what he meant.
"No, as more than friends, Veri." Veri was a nickname he gave me as a child.
"Duh, as best friends, silly. I know what you mean." We walked along in silence after our two second conversation. What if he meant as girlfriend/boyfriend? No... I'm not that pretty and besides that'd be impossible.
We strode into the classroom where my sister sat talking to her best friends, Staci and Rose. A part of me wanted to be popular like my sister like in California but another part of me wanted to shy away from any publicity because I have social anxiety or something.
I sat in my usual spot beside Erik and in front of Victoria when I heard a ratchet chick yell, 'DAMN WHAT A HOT PIECE OF ASS!' when our English teacher, Mr Westerveldt, walked into the room with a lopsided grin.
Oh sweet Jesus, he was fine. If only he wasn't 27 and I wasn't 17. In a perfect world, we'd both be 20 and be making out on the sofa as I softly stroke his-
"Miss Jones?" I turned my head to see Mr Westerveldt giving me a suspicious glance. His dark eyes shone like stars and together we could be a constellation. I imagined him without a shirt, he probably had an eight pack or maybe a 12 pack. That'd be so hot and not at all weird and unnerving.
"Yes?" I asked hoping I didn't sound too ridiculous. Mr Westerveldt smirked my way and winked my way as the students totally didn't notice, except for Victoria of course.
"Detention." Oh my god! Detention! For what?! Is this legal? Omg. Who cares? I want to bang this guy and I'm thinking about the consciences...? This sounds like something an old woman would do. Whatever.
"Ok." I smiled seductively while Victoria snorted.
"Mr Westerveldt, don't you mean me?"
"No! I hate you Victoria though I barely know you and as a teacher, I'm not supposed to dislike my students but I still do because I am in love with Veronica-"
Gasp! He loves me! Oh my god!
"-and we're getting married tomorrow and nobody can stop us!"
I practically swooned at the mention of marrying him. My parents wouldn't care because this is a young adult novel and who cares that I'm only seventeen? I can't wait to ravish him then lick up chocolate off of his weird unusual abs.
"NO!" Screamed Erik who knocked me out of my fantasy, "You can't do this! For I'm Veronica's mate!" Mate? Is that a type of dressing?
"What's a mate?" I asked as the whole classroom continued talking because apparently they're all dumber than a bag of bricks.
"I can't tell you just yet and I'm an alpha of a pack that you can't find out either and though I'm supposed to be mated with another one of my kind, nature went out of it's way to make sure you and me are soul mates, baby!"
Oh my gosh, now I totally love Erik! But I also love Mr Westerveldt... who hasn't told me his first name yet.
"What's your first name?" I asked Mr Westerveldt as he stared down into Erik's dark eyes.
"Benjamin, and I'm a royal vampire who smirks alot and will probably be a huge douche to you in the future, but who wants to dwell on that." I couldn't wait for Ben to be an ass to me. Imagine us doing it under the stars and drinking tea together while the children sit together by the fire because it's the 19th century in my brain.
"NO! For I love the dearest Veronica the most!" Came Henry storming into the classroom. But he was dating Victoria?!
"I can read minds and I'm a famous singer for a boy band called 'Pavement Scones Tea' or as some like to call 'Opposite Direction,' you may of heard of us, maybe not."
Oh my god Henry is so hot too though. Who will I pick? Find out in the next chapter!
