As she specifies the kind of drink and you turn around to go towards the bar, one of Ms Drew's friends says,"Look at that sl*t. All dressed up, dreaming she would get noticed by a rich boy so she could ensnare him in her web and suck him dry of all his money. I bet that's the only reason she came to work with you, Sara."
"Yes,all these small town girls are money wh*res."Every lady at the laughs and looks at you very conspicuously.
You grit your teeth. You are tired of being treated all the time like a lowly servant, instead of a secretary to an A-list actress who has won her job due to her credits and recommendations. But your college tuition isn't going to pay itself, so you pretented not to notice, and fetch the drinks. After you place it on their table, you go and sit by yourself on a table, alone. Nobody in Hollywood's poshest party would talk to a lowly secretary,of course.
You are deep in thought when the words,"Do you mind if I sit down here?" cut into them.
You look up into a pair of the bluest and most beautiful eyes you've ever seen.
"If you do mind, I can go sit down somewhere else", he prompted.
"Oh, sorry, of course you can sit down here. I was just thinking about some....things." After all, you couldn't very say that you lost your train of thought when you looked into the depths of his eyes, could you?
"My name is Niall Horan. Pleased to meet you."
You knew that of course. Who didn't? He was one of the biggest names in pop history, and the heart throb of millions of girls.
"I'm (Y/N), pleased to meet you too,"you reply."If I may ask, why did the one of the biggest names in the music industry have to sit alone?"
"Oh, you flatter me. Besides, I'm hardly sitting alone.Who wouldn't want to sit beside a beautiful girl like you? What I want to know is what a beautiful girl like you is doing, sitting alone?Shouldn't you be dancing? "
"Oh I don't know anyone here." You don't add, because I'm a nobody in the midst of rich and powerful people who would squash me like a bug as soon as look at me.
"That's good, cause I'm afraid I would have stolen you from them if anyone did ask you."
You look down and blush. Was THE Niall Horan actually flirting with you?
He offers you a dance and you gladly accept. He draws you into the middle of the dance floor and places one hand on your shoulder and the other on your hips, like a true gentleman. The two of you slow dance to your own tune, blissfully looking into each other's eyes and completely unaware of the uptempo dance number that is playing.
You talk and laugh to the various incidents he narrates to you, and he has lots,having shared life with 4 of the biggest pranksters on the planet. All this time, you had obsessed over them and dreamt about them,but you had always put them on an unreachable, untouchable threshold on your mind. Now talking with him, you realized he was just like normal people, easy to talk with and very down to earth. Just the kind of guy in fact, that you could fall for...
Niall had left after sometime due to his busy schedule, but not after promising to contact. You kept dancing, all alone but for the first time actually happy, not heeding the looks you were getting. Maybe because perhaps, for the first time, you could relate to the love songs that were playing;)
