“Alright c’mon Nana, let’s go for a walk.” Nana is your dog and you were going to take a walk on the beach. Something you only did when you felt like needing to think about everything going on. Nothing extremely severe was going on in your life, but you just needed to relax, you’ve been working so many long hours and your boss was just being a jerk all week. Whenever you get home though Nana is always there to cheer you up.

You finally got to the beach and took Nana off her leash. She was the kind of dog that would always return so you never worried much. You just walked along the beach and looked out in the water. You always loved water and breathing in the ocean air always made you relax. The waves just hit your feet as you walked along the shoreline.

You saw Nana running with another dog and you just smiled. “Well at least she made a friend.” you said to yourself. You ran up to the two dogs, pet Nana, and then looked at the other dog. “And who are you?” you asked looking at the dog. He just ran up to you and jumped on your leg.

“Aw you’re a cutey aren’t you? Yes you are. Yes you are.” You just pet the little dog then looked at his collar and dog tag. “Fox. Well, what a great name for you.”

The little dog just barked. And then he ran off to someone that was walking in your direction. “Hey, is he your dog?”

“Yeah, this is Fox.” The guy said. Then there was a short silence. “And I’m James.” He held his hand out and you just took it.

“(Y/N)” you said sending him a smile. He was cute, really tall, dark brown short hair, and hazel eyes.

Nana started barking and jumping on his leg. “And who’s this?” he asked bending down to pet your dog.

“Oh that’s Nana. I’ve had her for about a little under a year.”

“Really? I’ve had Fox for a little over a year.”

“I’m surprised, she doesn’t normally let strangers pet her. She must really like you.” It was true. Nana wasn’t the best with strangers, she never hurt anyone, but she didn’t just let them pet her. She would normally just stand by you and away from other people.

“Fox really likes you. I mean look, he hasn’t left your side this whole time.”

“He’s a sweet dog. They seem to be great friends.”

“Yeah. Well should we let them play and maybe, I don’t know, me and you could walk on the beach?”

“Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.”

“Ok then, after you.” He took a mini bow and pointed his arms down the shore.

“Why thank you.” you replied while curtseying.

James was just so easy to talk to. You told him about the hard time your boss was giving you and just about everything else. He told you about him and what he wanted to do in the future. And eventually the sun was going down.

“Alright, well me and Nana should probably be going.”

“Yeah, it’s getting late. Me and Fox should be going too. Can we walk you home?”

“You don’t have to. We’re just like 3 minutes away walking distance.”

“It’s no bother. Can’t let a pretty puppy and a beautiful girl walk alone at night.”

“Thank you. You’re not so bad yourself.”

“Lead the way.”

“Ok, c’mon Nana.” All four of you began walking to your house. It was amazing, after spending almost all day with him you two still found stuff to talk about. When you finally got to your door you got a little sad.

“Well this is it. It was nice meeting you. Thanks for listening to me go on and on about my problems, you really didn’t have to.”

He smiled and looked in your eyes, “Don’t worry about it. Thanks for also listening to me.”

You really didn’t want to say goodbye, but you knew you had to. You started fumbling with your keys.

“(Y/N)?”

“Yeah?”

In that moment James cupped your face in both his hands and started to lean in. Then he stopped when both your faces were about a hairs length away and he began to search your eyes as if to see if you would protest. When he saw you wouldn’t he closed the distance between you. You kissed back and everything seemed to disappear.

He ran his tongue over your bottom lip asking for entrance, but you didn’t let him in. He did it again and you were about to let him in when you felt something jump on your leg and you heard barking. You both pulled apart and looked down. Nana and Fox were jumping on your guy’s legs and barking.

“I guess that’s a sign.” You said.

“I guess it is. Would you…umm…like to…well I mean…be willing to…go out with me?”

“Hmm. Let me think about that.”

“Oh, ok. Well I guess Fox and I should be going now.” He turned to walk away, but you grabbed his arm.

“I’m a fast thinker. Yes, I would love to go out with you.” You said and looked in his eyes.

“So how about I pick you up at 8? Tomorrow?”

“Yes, that sounds great.”

“And maybe we could leave the dogs so we aren’t interrupted anymore?”

“Sounds good. Well I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Alright. Til then.” And with that he hugged you, kissed you on the cheek and walked away with Fox following behind him.
