Prologue

It was exactly one week before Valentine's day and Carmen decided to confess her sexuality to her best friend,Mia on the special day that is on Febuary 14 . Inevitably, Carmen was scared to the bone that coming out to Mia would end their 5 year friendship . They were friends since middle school now leading towards the ending of Junior year. Carmen of course had debated coming out, but ever since she was a sophmore, she started developing very strong feelings for Mia , she secretly crushed on her for almost a year . She decided that it would be even worse if she kept bottling up her secret to only end up bursting, so she decided to at least take baby steps even if it meant risking to lose Mia.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Carmen grumbled waking up to the annoying sound of her alarm , alerting her to get ready for school. She sat up in her bed for a few minutes before stripping off her clothes to take her morning shower.
After a few moments under the warm running water , she felt refreshed and changed into her outfit. She then applied her make up and straightened her naturally curly hair.
She grabbed her phone and shoved it in her back jean pocket before racing down the stairs to eat breakfast.

"Good morning sweetie. "Her mother greeted .
Carmen's mouth was filled with milk so she hummed in response.

"So it's Valentine's Day in a just a few days , do you have a date to go with you to the ball ?"her mother asked with a smile plastered on her face.

Carmen's father greeted his wife with a kiss and his two daughters with a. " Morning" before leaving off to work .
Carmen was used to her father not actually caring about the conversations they had over breakfast or dinner , basiacally being there , to Carmen and her older brother, Ross , he was more interested in his work then their school life .
"No... No date but a few boys did ask me, but I didn't take any interest in them...as usual. " Carmen replied.

"That's okay,you can go with Ross . "her mother joked.

"Nah! I prefer going with the dog, I'll go with Mia and Jay. " Carmen laughed .

"Ok, hey its already after 7:00 you should get going! "

"Ok, love you mom."

Carmen grabbed her bag and her car keys and raced outside to her car . She drove to Mia's house to pick her up and as usual, Mia was waiting on the porch. When Carmen pulled in , Mia quickly hopped in. Carmen stared at the blonde girl next to her and smiled to herself when Mia stared back with a goofy look on her face .
"Well since we both don't have dates to the ball , you are stuck with me again ! " Mia exclaimed .
Carmen smiled at her and pulled into the school , both of them heading to History together .
When they both walked into class , Joshua, the school girl's most wanted guy, asked Mia to the ball . Carmen knew that Mia had a crush on this guy, Mia always talked about him when he walked by.
Mia gave Carmen a look of approval, and Carmen just nodded. Carmen wasn't surprised that Joshua asked , Mia is a very beautiful girl inside and out. Carmen decided to get a date to the next guy that asked her.
