Parn's POV:

Emily and I remain sitting in the same spot among the tombstones for a few minutes until she had fully calmed down, enough to where she could form sentences normally again at least.

"Are you alright now, my dear?"

"Um y-yeah...I'm okay now, thank you... Parn, was it?"

"Yes, mon chere?"

"Where did you say we met before? I'm only asking because I would've remembered someone like you..." She chimed in as she slowly gets up with a light dusting of blush on her cheeks that I only now notice painting her face before brushing herself off.

Hmm...how adorable...

"Oh heh, well now, you don't remember me? How rude! I was the one who asked you why you were looking at a book on fairytales and nursery rhymes, taking into account your age and stature! Remember me now, my dear mouse?"

"Wait...that was you back at the Thorns and Roses?!"

"Heh, yes my dear! It was me the whole time!"

"You called me short...I-I am not short!"

"What? I did no such thing, little mouse! I said 'of your status', Like your above it all! I'm sorry if you misheard me!" I say with a toothy grin, attempting to save my skin as I come to realize that I offended the small girl with my mouth that never stops.

"Uh huh, sure okay...then besides that, what are you doing here? Also, did you see a little black cat around here? it was really cute and It was helping me out with the case..." I couldn't help but be stunned by her comments about being called cute while she gives me a small glare.

"What? I love black cats, don't judge me..."

So, she didn't see me transform at all, nor saw me slip back into my hoodie before coming to...I wonder, what could have she done to make herself a target upon that witch? This girl is a bit too naive to do any actual harm to anyone, even with the hag's nightmare spell effecting her, so why use her for her schemes specifically? What would her reason be for it? Hold on... did she just say that she loves black cats?  Great...I have little choice but to tolerate this girl now...

"Um, about that... you see, I came here with you and I was attempting to help you throughout the beginning."

"Wait, what? I don't understand what you're..." She looked at me with curiosity mixed with disbelief, as though I had said something wrong or offensive again.

"You mean to tell me...that you're the black cat that was following me? Heh, no way! That was a CAT! Not a person. And from where I'm standing, your a human, and a silly one at that. Not a kitty cat!" She giggled and smirked as if she had just won an argument.

Heh, won't this be a surprise for her.

"Oh? Are you really sure about that, my little mouse?" I matched her smirk with my own as I stand over her feeble stature. I notice another light dusting of blush starting to rise in her cheeks when she cranes her neck up to look at me. Before she can turn her head away to hide her flush, I back up a few steps from her to transform back into my normal self, just to show her how wrong she is. My body shifts within my hoodie, the only part unaffected by my shapeshifting ability as I pop my small head out from the crumpled piece of vibrant clothing on the ground.

"See? Told you so!" I say triumphantly through my small, feline  mouth as I forgo my mewing in this instance, having the ability to do so within the veil, while I look up to see the girl stare wide-eyed at me in stunned silence.
