Around the age of 15, Frank had moved into a small suburban neighborhood in a big house with his family. This meant that he sadly had to change schools completely. Which also meant losing his only friends Pete and Ray.
When they had everything finally moved in and the trucks gone, Frank decided he needed some fresh air and some quiet time alone. So he decided he would sit outside on his porch and just observe his surroundings. While he was taking everything in, he noticed an older boy by the looks of it next door. He had long black hair that just came down passed his eyes. He looked to be about 17 or so.
To be completely honest, Frank was scared of this older boy. The school he went to was a private school. Everyone wore the same type of clothes and nobody was the outcast. This older boy wore all black. From what he could see from his porch, he was wearing a David Bowie shirt with some ripped black jeans, accompanied by converse.
Frank was used to seeing the same old boring tan and blue uniform that everyone wore. But for some reason, he just couldn't take his eyes off of the boy. There was something curious about him.
The older boy had no idea that Frank was absentmindedly staring at him. When he turned around, they locked eyes and the older boy ran inside. Frank was confused. Did he scare the boy off? Was he too ugly to look at?
He ended up forgetting his thoughts and ran inside to unpack his belongings. Before he could run upstairs and into his room, he was met with his mom in the kitchen.
"Hey sweetheart. So how do you like the house?" She asked
"It's really nice. I'm just gonna have to get used to how big and spacious it is." Frank laughed trying to leave his mom but of course she had more questions.
"Well, you start school Monday so you have a few days to get things in order. Oh, have you met the neighbors, the Ways? I went over earlier and introduced myself. They have 2 sons about your age actually." She said walking backwards into the kitchen. Frank took this as an opportunity to run to his room and try not to freak out.
He tried to gather all this information. While he was unpacking, his mom yelled from downstairs, "Frank, just so you know, the Ways actually invited us to their house for dinner. Be ready in about an hour okay?"
*Inside Frank's head*
You have got to be fucking kidding me right now.Frank was trying as hard as he could not to freak out. He thought this boy was scary but he was so intrigued it actually made him cute. "Oh, okay mom. Sure."
He tried to hide his nervousness with excitement. He skipped packing everything and decided to take a shower and look decent for once.
When he finally ventured out of the bathroom, he noticed he only had his preppy type clothes. He didn't even like them him himself. He was into different types of music like the black flag and David Bowie. He yelled downstairs and asked his dad if he could borrow a shirt. He reluctantly said yes and Frank went to look in his parents room for better clothing.
As he began to look into his fathers wardrobe something caught his eye, A David Bowie t shirt. He held it up eyeing it closely. Did he want to match the older boy? It's probably not the SAME shirt right? Might as well make a good impression.
He grabbed the shirt and quickly got changed before doing his hair and applying eyeliner. His parents were waiting in the living room watching some dumb soap opera when he came down.
"Whoa, I'm not used to you looking like that. I'm liking the shirt dude." Frank's dad said smiling.
It was nearly 6 o'clock when they headed out the door and over to their neighbors house.
