In the Footsteps of Piper and Jason Grace

Jason finds out

Jason's POV:

I was writing my report on the big case when his phone rang, making me jump. I cursed in Latin, and slid the phone out of my pocket.

Piper Grace, the caller ID said.

I pressed the talk button and put the phone to my ear. 

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey Jason! Guess what!? Oh, wait, you'll never guess. I'm pregnant!" Piper practically screamed.

"You're-what?" I asked in awe.

"Pregnant!" she said. "As in a baby!"

"Oh my gods! That's so exciting!" I told her.

"I can't believe it," she confided.

"Me neither," I admitted. "Hey, Pipes, can we talk about this at home? This is kinda important."

"Sure. Love you, Golden Boy," she told me, ending the call. 

"Love you too, beauty queen," I whispered at the silent phone. 

I gazed out at the Manhattan skyline, seeing but not really taking it in. Sighing in disbelief, I turned my attention back to the job at hand, but quickly found that no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't concentrate. Punching the desk in frustration, I shut down my computer and packed up, leaving the office.
