Chapter Eighteen:
I had done it. After seven months, the spell had finally been completed on the first of May. I had even tested it on animals quite successfully; curing them into insanity but then I was able to bring them back from the precipice. I had no actual muggle or wizard to test it on to see if it would work on animals but I knew that if I did, it would work without question. Neville's parent's would be saved and he could be happy and have a family just like he deserved.
Sitting down with a fresh quill, parchment and ink I wrote down everyone one would need to know to perform the healing spell; the incantation, which way to flick the wand (down to the degree of the angle you'd need to make with your wrist), where to point it and even how close you'd have to have your wand to the person it was being performed on.
I'd done it, it was complete and with only one day left before my seventeenth birthday. Officially, I'd broken a record, I'd designed more spells than anyone else before their coming of age though there was no way for me to prove it without perhaps taking some truth serum. Despite that, it didn't matter as honestly, I couldn't be happier with myself than I was in that moment.
I had to tell Neville immediately.
Proudly, I rushed out of Gryffindor tower, intent to tell him that he would finally have his family back. Clutching the piece of parchement with all of the information on it to my chest, I ran down the corridors though it was still early in the day without a care in the world that I might be caught. Obviously, I would be careful not to show anywhere where the Room of Requirement could be found at but other than that, I honestly didn't care. I was just too excited.
Pacing back and forth three times in front of the designated Room area, I watched happily as the door revealed itself to me and I rushed in. Searching for Neville's distinct face amongst the crowd, I maneouvered towards him having to go around the group that was surrounding someone else.
"Look Neville, look! I've done it, you don't ha-"
"Amy, thank Merlin you're okay! Your brother just arrived and he's been asking after you, you should go talk to him!" Neville's voice was ecstatic, as if he just got the one birthday gift he'd always wanted; but it wasn't my gift to him, no, it Harry Potter. Naturally.
I could understand it, I myself had been wanting my brother here for the last seven months, practically nonstop and now that I was hearing he was actually back to Hogwarts, well, I had just gotten an amazing gift too.
I moved through the crowd that was gathered, eventually locating his brown hair, green eyes and glasses, not to mention the lightning scar. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Neville folding the parchment into a small square and shoving it into his pocket without looking at it.
I jumped at Harry, yelling his name out before burying my face into his shoulder and hugging him as tightly as I possibly could. I noticed, vaguely, that Luna, Granger and Ron Weasley were standing behind him awkwardly but ignored them as I felt his arms wrap around me just as tight. No matter how much anger or hatred I harbored for my elder brother, all I could think in that moment was about how he was safe. How I was happy that he was safe. He was where I could protect him and he would be all right.
"Amy!" He exclaimed, pulling away to get a good look at me while I took that same oppurtunity to do the opposite.
He looked haggard but not too worse for wear considering all he'd been through in the last ten months and I could imagine that I looked worse judging by the shock in his almond shaped green eyes. It must be a shock to be on the run for ten months, expecting to come home and see your sister exactly as you left her only to realize she looks as if she was the one on the run and not you. I knew I was bruised and a bit bloody and I probably smelled like the dungeons but I didn't care. I couldn't possibly care about what I looked like or anything else except that I had Harry here with me. Once again, the Potter's were together.
