Wrote this a while back, don't think it's updated.

"I'll meet you there?"

"Yeah, see you soon."

David was, no doubt about it, excited to see his best friend. He hadn't seen him for over month, since they've been so busy with YouTube. Sure they still played with each other and called on Skype but it was never as good as seeing each other in person.

They were going to meet each other at their special place. It's been years since they first met each other, but David still remembers the day like it was yesterday.

David was sitting under the biggest tree on the outskirts of the park. He was sitting alone, watching all of the other kids play together. He wasn't lonely, he had friends and siblings to play with, he just wasn't in the mood today. He was so out of it, so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't notice the presence next to him.

"Hi! What's your name?"

David jumped at the sudden high-pitched noise next to him. He looked to his right and saw a small boy wearing a bright red hoodie and black pants. The boy had brown hair and looked around eight years old.

"David," he replied before looking back out in front of him at the playground. He wasn't interested in talking to the boy beside him, but he had different ideas.

"Hi David! My names Lui!" Lui enthusiastically informed David. David just nodded in reply.

"David!" Davids mother called from the playground. David stood up and brushed any dirt from his pants and went to his mother to go home.

David chuckled at the memory of a seven year old Lui. His voice was squeaky and he was always happy.

Every time David went to the park Lui was always at that tree, waiting for him. How did he know David would be there?

After a few months, after sitting together almost everyday, after school and on the weekends, David asked, "Why are you always here when I'm here? How do you know when I'm going to be here?"

Lui giggled, "I don't silly, I live here."

David was confused at the statement. He lived here? But this was a park, people don't live in parks, do they? David voiced his thoughts, "But people don't live in parks."

"Well I do."

David remembered how Lui told him that his parents went away and he's waiting for them to come back to the park, where they left him. He told him about how he sleeps in the tunnel next to the slide, he told him where he got his food from, which David of course thought was disgusting. He was only seven after all.

---------The Next Day---------

It wasn't long until he reached the park, it was only a short walk. He stood next to the 'Welcome to White Field Park' sign, memories of the place flashing in his mind. He walked over to the tree, a place he'll never forget about, his favourite place in the world.

David sat under the tree, hugging his knees to his chest and resting his chin on his knees, back against the tree. He watched the children play and scream with joy. His mind drifting to when he was a child, playing in the same playground with someone he grew to love. He watched, as that very man walked across the park towards David. The short, red-hooded man sat next to David, with his legs crossed. He looked like a little boy sitting in class waiting for story time.

"Hey David!" Lui said, just as enthusiastically as the day he met David.

David didn't look at Lui, he continued watching the action at the playground. He reached out his right arm and pulled Lui closer to him. Lui giggled and shuffled closer, resting his head on Davids shoulder.

"I missed you," David admitted in a gruff voice. "It's been a while."

"It hasn't been that long!" Lui laughed, "But I missed you too."

They sat reciting memories and experiences they've had at this park with each other. Soon recalling things they did together as adults, memories that will never fade.

"Remember when we fenced with a broom and mop?"

"Oh yeah! That was so much fun! What about when we ate those wasabi beans!"

"They were horrible! Never again will I even look at those things."

They say laughing, sometimes to the point of having tears in their eyes. When they finally managed to calm down, and finished their reminisce, they silently watched the park, just enjoying having each other close. Lui's head rest in Davids lap, while David has his long legs straight and his back against the tree. Their tree.

David could add this as another day, another memory with Lui, that he'll never forget. One he'll never want to forget.
