Anger

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I swung my arm over to my alarm clock, hitting the right button after fiddling with the controls. I took a moment to rest my eyes before opening them to my darkened room. I never remembered pulling my curtains.

I looked around and everything made sense. I had fallen asleep while reading the notes on Hollie. I had committed enough to memory and wrote enough notes so that Alli could return the file today.

I pulled myself out of bed and wandered to the bathroom. I stepped out of my clothes and turned on the shower. Once it got to the right temperature, I climbed in, the water instantly pelting my skin.

10 minutes later, I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my self, walking back to my room. Opening my cupboard, I debated on today’s clothes. Another 10 minutes later, I had decided on a pair of black skinny jeans, a bright orange top and my black converse. I let my hair down, a few waves falling over my shoulder in the process. I grabbed my bag and headed down stairs, banging on my brother’s door to wake him up.

Pulling the bread out of the cupboard, I slotted a few pieces into the toaster. I took the butter from the fridge as I reached into my pocket to grab my phone.  I panicked for a moment before realizing I had left it upstairs in my room. I bolted up the stairs and into my room, searching for my phone.

Locating it in the corner, I hit a the buttons a few times before the screen eventually lit up- 16% battery remaining. Damn technology. I cursed more under my breath, annoyed at my stupid phone. I fiddled with the charger, leaving my phone resting (and hopefully charging) delicately against my wall.

Jogging back down stairs, I saw a few wisps of smoke from the toaster and quickly pulled the toast out. It was burnt to pieces and I couldn’t be bothered to do some more so I grabbed the first few things that I could find, which were cupcakes, and stuffed them down as I grabbed my last bits and finished the final parts of my school morning routine.

15 minutes later, I walked into school with Taylor, moaning about Hollie.

“I mean, she seems nice but something about her irks me and her clothes aren’t the most appropriate,” I complain, looking up to Taylor. She was ignoring me, looking at her phone, nodding when she felt was necessary.

“She reminds us of what we said we would never, ever be no matter what.”

This attracts her attention, her face instantly whipping my way to look at me, confused.

“What do you mean?”

“I can’t explain…it just seems as if…she has a past…-”

“-She isn’t proud of and wants to hide it?”

“Yeah. “

“Like you?”

“How?”

“You know how.”

This annoys me and Taylor knows it does. I storm off, heading towards my locker. Just as I step inside, I look behind me and see Hollie hugging Taylor. Holly is blabbing on about something and Taylor just looks right through her. Ugh, today was going to be a long day.

***-***

I managed to survive the morning without talking to Taylor or Hollie-because besides what people think, I have other friends than Taylor and we aren't in all the same lessons. Hollie was a lot harder to ignore considering how loud and annoying she is. It didn’t help that she kept sending me death glares any time I even dared to breathe the same air as her.
