Raven woke up and stumbled out of her tree to go to Wests house. As she reached it she heard a rusting sound in a bush, probably a squirrel. She continued to walk as she heard more noises in the bush. Click. She turned her head to see a female Hunter crouched in the bush. She started running but before she reached the other side of the field she heard two gunshots. She fell onto her side fake dead. She slowed her breathing and focused her eyes at a twig in the distance. She heard footsteps coming close to her, and heard Wests voice.
"Yeah this is the one that got away the other day" he said
"At least we got her" the female Hunter she knew said.
"Okay well, you go get the license for her to be sent in" West said petting Ravens tail.
The government gives ten free licenses to every citizen every month. When they had killed a Wolf-Kin they put the tag on them and send it in to be stuffed and put into a museum, for entertainment but mostly to warn off other Wolf-Kin.
"That's weird" the female Hunter said, her name is Colleen.
"What is it" West asked carefully
"There is no bullet holes, or blood." She said
"I'm sure there is," West sighed
"No, she would have been shot on this side, I-is she breathing" Colleen added
"I'm sure she's not."
West moved in front of Ravens head moving his head to signal her to run. Raven did not hesitate, she flew to her feet and bolted across Wests yard and dived into the bushes. She ran until she got to a fence, the fence of the school. She turned and ran and came to a big tree. She looked around, no one was in any bushes, she jumped up the trunk of the tree grabbing onto branches and pulling herself into them. A cold wind blew, the smell of water I the air, and the dark clouds promising rain. She jumped from branch to branch slowly making it to her hollow. She saw Cooper standing below her when she had passed ten trees. She fell down and landed on top of Cooper.
"Watch out you little squirrel" Cooper teased and turned into her wolf form.
"Why don't you" Raven barked playfully
"I'm going to Wests house, want to come?" Cooper asked tipping her head to the side
"I'm- um- no I ca- we can't. They are hunting" Raven said
"Oh! A pack hunt? I want to go" Cooper bust into a run towards Wests house
"No! Wait" Raven yapped and dashed in front of him.
Raven ran in front of Cooper until they reached Wests house and skidded to a stop when she saw Colleen and West standing in the field. They both turned to Raven as Colleen pulled out a gun
"No" she yapped and dashed into Cooper.
They both rolled in a tangle of fur. Raven heard a gun shot and a loud yap. Soon after there was a explosion of barks and growls as her Wolf-kin friends scared off Colleen.
Raven turned to look at Cooper, blood welling out of a hole in his side. Raven stood shocked. Was Cooper dead? Cooper lay limp with his tongue lolling out.
"He's just unconscious" West decided as they took Cooper inside.
They had removed and bandaged up Cooper. He had a white bandaged wrapped around his body close to his stomach area. Cooper had started stirring.
"Wha-" he yapped
"It's okay"West reassured.
"Cooper," Raven said carefully "would you like to stay in my den while you rest?"
"Sure" Cooper said.
