The morning

My eyes open to the room filled with light. The sun was pouring its glorious light inside the small room. "Where the hell am I?" I inquired to myself. I looked around finally realizing ....boarding school....therapy....school....holy shit.

I had no idea what to do now. Only yesterday I woke up in my very own bed and oh how much I miss that. "Stop complaining already Laura" . I grabbed my phone from the table top. It was weird there wasn't a single text or call from mom. Strange. I pushed my thoughts away and looked upon the activities to come. I got out of bed and realized that I hadn't changed since last night. I was in the same jeans and pink vest top mom had chosen for me.

This morning was not so different. I had always woken up and had been greeted by an empty house and an empty room didn't make much difference. What made the difference was that there wasn't breakfast waiting on the table with some flowers and a note from mom
"Good morning honey, have a great day 💕"
It wasn't anything much but it always meant a lot and it didnt take long for me to realize that it won't happen again, at least  till I am stuck here, in this whatever they call it but I'm gonna call it a sea hole. Yeah that's my point of view.

I took the uniform hanging in the wardrobe, my toothbrush, my phone and towel and rushed out of the room. I kept walking hurriedly, and suddenly I came to a halt. I had no idea where the washroom was. Oh shit. This means I have to communicate. I saw two girls laughing, all dressed. They saw me standing there and stopped, "Hey Laura, any problem ?" Okay now this is creepy, everyone just magically knowing my name wasn't what happened at my previous school. I tried to ignore the fact that in a few hours I am quite well known here and stuck to what was important. "Yeah I can't find the bathroom." I faltered. "That shouldn't be a problem, hey Jess" she pointed to a girl with a towel, toothbrush and uniform passing by. "Can you please take Laura with you, I assume you're headed towards the bathroom."
"Sure " Jess said. And then they left. Jess, what they called her faced towards me and started walking.
"So what does it feel like?" She inquired.
"What feels like what ? "
"You know being new?"
"Sucks" I say being quite honest. She lets out a laugh. We reach to a door saying "Girls Bathroom."
"Here we are" she said "see you around " and started walking towards a shower cubicle.
I stood there for some time and then started putting my things in a shower cubicle.

I have a habit of taking long showers. It's that time in a day when I can actually think. As I let the cold water flow over my body my mind starts working. As the water makes its way to every part it energizes it. By the time I am done I am quite refreshed from last night. I quickly change into the school uniform. Schools back in New York didn't have a specific uniform so as far as I can remember this is the first time I am wearing one.

A blue skirt with a white button down having a stupid school logo on the right breast. A pair of white socks and a dumb tie. By the time I get out, my hair wet I can't actually believe what the hell am I wearing. I study myself in the mirror. "City girls are never introduced to specific dress codes I believe." I hear a voice behind me. Startled, I look behind me and see Katy. I was actually relieved. I've just come here and haven't been introduced to much people but she was the only one with whom I actually talked to last night.

"Hey" I smiled
"How are you getting along Laura." She asked pleasantly.
"I don't know." I sighed
She seemed to understand and changed the topic.
"Oh well" she said and grabbed me from the shoulder, "screw this, let's go get some food ." Food, I was actually quite hungry and it sounded great.
"Why not?" I smiled and happily walked with her.
