The first things that came into my sight when I entered the grand doors were tables....long tables arranged in neat rows. Every chair had a sparkling, clear glass, white plates, napkins. It seemed nice but I felt butterflies in my stomach after my eye saw ALOT of people. It seemed as if I had caterpillars for lunch.
"Laura" I consoled myself, "they are just a big, very big bunch of stupid teenagers and you need not to worry." Chatter spread across the hall. I saw girls and boys not hesitating like me, laughing, chatting. I felt as if everyone was staring at me. I got conscious, I didn't want to look odd or out of place.
I sat on a chair and a girl was sitting two chairs ahead of me. Seeing me she moved next to me. Fair skin, brown hair that curled at the tips, honey eyes, very beautiful. I felt rather tomboyish with my hair in a pony tail and not painted nails. She had a perfect manicure. "Hey Laura." Okay this was odd she knew my name. "Ya I am Laura but how do you..." She cut my sentence in between. "Did I know your name?" She said "well I am Eloise madams relative and she has been discussing a new city girl." She said "city girl" in a different tone. "Oh, I see and you are?" I said shyly. "Catherine, call me Kate" she said sweetly. "Katy" I smiled. "Will work" she smiled.
Dinner started and I filled my plate with salad, some bacon and other stuff. Everyone started eating. Chatting also stopped and to my surprise Katy's smiling face was serious. This was awkward. In this silence the door opened and a boy, dark skin, rough hair, white shirt, beautiful eyes entered. All eyes were on him. I assumed he is also a confused new person like me fooling around like an idiot. My lips curved into a smile seeing the tension on his face.
"Damn, Laura you were looking like that a few minutes ago" I scolded myself. Surprisingly he came and sat beside me. I didn't like that, it was weird. I never had male friends and I had no idea how their company was. "Ignore" my brain told me. "Hey, can you toss me a clue to what's going on here" he whispered. "No idea" I whispered back. I saw his lips that curved into a weak smile. "New, lost fool like me?" He asked. "Exactly" I smiled.
