What was that all about?

I don't know, Adonia, but I don't like it. Evander's never shown any signs of being angry, frustrated, or even the least bit dangerous. He looked so cruel when he said all that.

Like an angry god wanting answers, sheesh, I'm getting chills.

Well stop it, I'm getting chills too.

...........

..............

Evander seemed a little weird to me....is he always like this?

Bah! I've known him since I was born! He just really active and mysterious in a weird sorta way.

I tuned out Adonia, a trick I learned a few minutes before.

I grabbed my bag walking out the door in shorts and a blue t-shirt. I crossed the streets to Mrs. Nemera's house and rang the bell, hearing the faint noise of it going off on the other side.It opened slowly to reveal Mrs. Nemera.

Mrs. Nemera was a woman in her late 50's or early 60's with short gray hair and a comforting presence. Her eyes were a warm coffee brown with wrinkles around them. It was one of the only thing that was old about her. Her face was oval shaped and glassy in the afternoon mist, as her almond eyes inspected me warmly. Her lips curved up as she brought me into a warm embrace even though I was a few inches taller than her.

"What brings you here Lan?" she said in her cheerful voice. For someone that's seen so many things, she was the only one that I've seen smile after it happened.

I smiled at her when she called me Lan. She was the only one who called me that.

"Just wanted to visit. I've heard about Adira."

Her smile faded replaced by a grimace," The poor darling....I can't let you see her, she's sleeping. But in the mean time, we can talk about your little act in the bank."

I felt Adonia shuffle inside me.

 I gulped.
