Little Riot

"Let's run through Forget and Midnight Affair" I said looking at our list of songs and twirling my drumstick with the tips of my fingers.
"Alright" Lexie said, "did you want to count off Forget or did you want Allison to?"
We were currently finalizing our five-song set for gig we have tonight.
Allison, Kami, Lexie and I had been a band only for a year.
I had started the band with high hopes of becoming successful. We have set high goals for ourselves and we intend to reach them. We already have a strong following and a couple singles out and one debut EP. We're on the right track.
"I'll count off" I answered. Allison nodded and strummed her guitar make sure it was in tune.
I counted off like we'd practices and we played through the two songs perfectly.
I set down my sticks and got up from my kit, stretching my limbs.
"I'm so excited for this gig" I mumbled.
"Same," Kami said setting down her bass. "What time should we pack up?"
"Like, six thirty. It's four now" I said walking over to the couch and sitting down. "We have to be there and on at eight".

We passed the time by watching tv and talking. Once six o' clock came around we got ready and loaded our equipment into my family van.
This van was like my child. I've had it since I was 16 and sure, it looks like shit with its rusted dents, worn down interior, and lack of AC but hey, it's drivable.
We loaded in and I blasted music and pulled out and onto the street.
We arrived at a cabin looking pub. It had dark wood and a stained glass door. It looked like it came straight out of tumblr.
"This is cute" Lexie cooed getting out and grabbing a bag of cables.
"The aesthetics are real" Kami said.
Allison hummed one of our songs as we walked in.
Loud rock music filled my ears. The place was packed with people ranging from 18 to 40.
Waitresses strutted around flirting with the customers and conversation was coming from every direction.
"Little Riot?" A man asked us.
"Yep. How are you?" I asked.
"Good, good. You can go back through that door and leave your stuff our tech crew will set up.
"Okay, thanks".
We went to the back and saw a bunch of guys and a couple girls all in the same black t-shirt or tank top with the pubs logo on their chests.
We settled down our things and the crew instantly began unpacking and setting up on the stage that was closed off by a curtain.
We all stood awkwardly waiting to be told to do something.
We have always set up our own stuff. It was weird not to be doing anything.

Time passed and we talked amongst ourselves. We talked with some of the crew and met with some of the other bands playing the bar tonight.
"Little Riot on!" We heard someone yell.
"Oh shit" Lexie said grabbing her guitar and Allison hers. Kami got her bass and I walked towards the curtain with my sticks. We settled on the stage, the curtains still closed.
We heard someone through the speakers, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we have some kick ass bands tonight. Who's ready?" The man asked.
We heard some hoots and hollers making butterflies erupt in my stomach.
"Little Riot!" He yelled and the curtains opened.
My eyes scanned the bar to about a hundred faces on us. We've played bigger shows but I got the same adrenaline rush as I always do. I counted off our first song and we played it amazingly.
Two songs passed and Lexie was introducing us. I looked around and my eyes met with some boys on the side of the sage.
They were near the wall huddled together with drinks in their hand.
One of the guys, who had blue hair, noticed me looking and waved idiotically. I laughed and waved back.
I turned my focus back on the gig and finished it with a bang.
"Thank you!" Allison yelled and we walked off.
"That was so good!" Kami said once we got off stage.
"I think that was the best we've played. . . Let's go get pizza!" Lexie cheered as we started packing up our things.
"Can some one help me with my bass-"
"I can".
I glanced behind me to see the four boys I saw earlier. They were probably a band playing next. One of them walked up to me and grabbed the case with the bass drum.
"Thank you. Hum?"
"Ashton" he smiled, "where's this going?"
I grabbed some bags, "follow me, I'm Tori" I smiled and walked him to my van.
"Are you playing tonight?" I asked once we loaded everything up.
He laughed, "Nope" he said popping the 'P'.
"Okay?"
We turned back around and it hit me like a brick wall.
"Oh my god!" I said looking up at Ashton.
"What?"
"You're Ashton Irwin !" I yelled.
He laughed. "Yeah. I didn't know if you knew me or not".
"I know you! I love you! I mean . . . I love your drumming".
He laughed again and we went back in so I could finish packing up. When I got back I saw everything in their cases and the girls talking to the guys I saw.
"Tori!" Lexie hissed.
"Huh?" I asked walking over to them.
"Where did you go?"
I opened my mouth to answer but she cut me off, "I don't care. Calum fucking Hood is in front of me" Lexie said.
I looked at the band in front of me.
"I'm Tori" I said.
"Luke".
"Calum".
"Michael".
They all introduced themselves.
"So," Luke started "I don't know if you know but we're going on our second world tour, Sounds Live Feels Live".
I felt Lexie tense up next to me.
"Of course" Allison said.
"Cool, well we came here to see you perform. We found you through our fans. They love you guys."
I smiled widely. Our fans were amazing.
"We looked into you and you're amazing. We brought some of guys from out record company Hi Or Hey.
We would really love to sign you guys. Maybe you would want to open for us on the first wing of the tour?" Calum finished.
"Wait, wait" Kami said raising her hands "what?"
"Tour with us" Michael said. "You guys are fucking amazing!"
My brain went blank. I couldn't comprehend what we were being asked.
"I'm down" Allison said.
