Golden light of the mid morning sun bathes over the freckled face of a small girl, her large brown innocent eyes gleam with hope and wonder. Not a care in the world crosses her mind. She runs her tiny thin fingers through the caramel and chestnut locks that flow to just beneath her shoulder blades. She steps through the enterance to her brick ranch and greets her mother with a large smile and faint gleeful chuckle. The girl speaks in soft tones and whispers that she will be right back down, to her oblivious mother with her attention glued to her work. The small child kicks off her shoes and shuffles over to the stairwell. As she grips the slick wooden railing to start her journey up the stairs, a suddle pain engulfs her mind. Her smile fades with each step as the pain spreads and grows stronger, like vines wrapping around her brain, strangling and ripping apart each sense, memory, thought, and emotion from the depths of her mind. What is left behind is only the overwhelming sensation of thin pins and needles tearing through the the tissue of her skull and lungs, letting blood and oxygen drain the life from her body.
--The small girl grips the railing, letting loose an agonizing screech as she falls to the ground, clutching her knees to her chest, desperately searching for a shred of light, of help, of hope in an otherwise darkened abyss of unfamiliarity.--
Intense stabbing pain pulsates throughout her head, rendering her speechless... Little did she know, that impairment would become permanent.
As the light fades from the outside world, the girl is able to make out the silhouette of a woman, her mother, kneeling above her, weeping and wailing as she shakes her body viciously. Though all is numb within her, and unexplainable pain ensnares her mind, her heart still aches with love and passion to ease her mothers sorrow. It's no use, everything in that little girls world, has already been changed forever.
My world would be changed forever.
