Chapter 4
"... Tristan and I used to "date". It wasn't legit though. It was those kiddie kind of dating like we hung out together so much that other kids considered us dating. We didn't really know what we were doing I mean we were still young and foolish. HE WAS THE ONE WHO KISSED ME THEN LEFT ME AND DIDN'T TALK TO ME FOR LIKE FIVE MONTHS! THEN ONE DAY HE FINALLY DECIDES TO COME BACK AND TALK TO ME LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED?! Ugh. So just now like fifteen minutes ago, he just confessed his love for me. His exact words were 'I love you Violet and I still do. I loved you ever since we met back all the way in kindergarden. We got along so well and we still do now but I always just wish I could go back in time to change what I'd done nine years ago' and that's when I left." I finished with the tears streaming down even more.
"Oh baby, shhhh. Don't cry, don't cry." Sky cooed hugging me tight and stroking my hair.
"I tried so hard to forget that and I finally did until I met you in grade six." I cried into her shoulder.
*Flashback to nine years ago when they were in grade three*
"Hay Tristan!" I yelled jumping out of a bush as he walked by which startled him and caused him to trip over his own foot and fall over.
"Ahaha Tristan." I laughed. "Are you okay?" I asked giving him a hand and he took it and got back up.
"Yeah I'm fine but you're gunna regret that!" He laughed giving me a tight bear hug almost crushing my ribs. So I hugged back. That's when the other kids were mistakened when they saw Tristan and I hugging and started making up rumors that we were dating and it wasn't true but instead of having fake rumors go through the whole school, Tristan though why not give them the sastisfactory and make the rumor true and we quote quote dated. So the next day during recess again, we sat under a tree in the shade and just talked about random stuff and suddenly he leaned in and kissed me. I felt sparks fly within me. It felt magical and it was my first kiss so what'd you expect.
"Sorry! I shouldn't have done that." He said when he pulled away and ran off somewhere. After that, we never spoke for five months.
~five months later (still in flashback)~
"Hey Violet." The familiar voice rang through my head and looked to who called me. It was the person I haven't talked to in five months.
"Hi." I replied looking away.
"How's life?" He asked casually.
"It's good, I guess." It came out more of a question. "How 'bout you?"
"Yeah. I'm fine..." He answered.
"I missed you so much!" I all of a sudden said and hugged him as tightly as I can. I was more than happy he hugged back. I missed his hugs.
"I missed you too." He muffled into my hair.
*End of flashback*
Which by the way, never get a bear hug from Tristan unless you want to end up with a bunch of broken ribs.
"Well, it's getting dark and you already went home before and half an hour later you had to come back. Sorry I wasted your time with this." I said honestly.
Skylar's POV
It had been half an hour since I've gotten home and taken a shower when I get a text from Violet. It said:
Hey can you come over? I have something very urgent to tell you and it's about Tristan :(
So I typed back saying:
Ya I'll be over in 5 :)
"Hey mom, I'm going back to Violet's for a few. You can start dinner without me. Bye." I yelled over my shoulder as I stepped out of the house locking it. I walked-jogged-ran-jogged-ran-walked-ran-jogged-walked all the way to Violet's house. We lived about 10 minutes away from each other by foot.
"I'm here! Vi! Are you okay? What happened?!" I practically yelled. Well sorry if I'm just being a concerned best friend because my best friend it standin in front of me looking a mess. Her eyes were all red and puffy.
She gestured me to follow her to the couch and sat down facing each other, sorta.
"Well, nine years ago..." She began. "Tristan and I used to "date" ... " Did I just hear that right? That hurt me so much just even hearing it. I felt like crying but I couldn't. I had to be strong for Vi. I've had a huge crush on him ever since freshman year when Violet introduced us but I always knew he didn't like me back and probably wouldn't and until now, I knew that was never gonna happen, especially because he just confessed his love for my best friend who was his best friend longer. I could only just keep wishing and dreaming that he would. Sigh.
"...And that's when I left." She finished with more tears coming down.
"Oh baby, shhhh. Don't cry, don't cry." I cooed, hugging her tight and stroking her hair.
"I tried so hard to forget that and I finally did until I met you in grade six." She cried.
We just sat there in silence in each others arms with Vi's occasional sniffs.
"Well, it's getting dark and you already went home before and half an hour later you had to come back. Sorry I wasted your time with this." She said before getting up.
"It's okay Vi. I'll be here for you like you'll be here for me." I gave her a reassuring smile, said goodbye and gave her a quick hug before I left.
